High Output Alternator WARNING

If you're looking for a high output alternator I would strongly advise that you stay clear of Powerbastards.com. I purchased a 220 amp from them in December of 2022, it worked well for about 6 weeks and then quit charging at idle. When I contacted the company (it took me multiple attempts over several days to get a response back) the downhill ride began. It wasn't so much the "send it to us, you pay for the shipping and wait until we get around to it" attitude so much as the constant snarky email replies from the owner Mike Savino that hammered the final nails. I have never been treated so dismissively by anyone that I paid this kind of money for anything. In the end, I decided to chalk it up as a lesson, get another alternator elsewhere, and stop letting this twit get on my nerves. I just thought maybe I could save someone else the trouble.

220amp is a lot of amperage. What kind of electronics are you running to need that much? Stock is like 90amp if I remember correct.
Stock is 100A actually. I am running about 1200 watts worth of amps for my audio. The amps I'm using are Slash series JL Audio and they like current. With a 10 Farad capacitor this keeps it from having lamp pulsing issues and keeps the HID ballasts from failing due to voltage instability.

I use a Tundra alternator, it's 130amp but I'm not running a crazy ass stereo.

Me neither, or at least nothing a stock one wouldn't like. I got it because mine went bad.

I just have gauges for turbo...only other electronic. I switch because my alternator crapped out finally.
Hello. What year is the tundra? I’m needing one alternator soon. Thanks

150amp option
— 27060-0F050 — 2004-2007 Sequoia alternator 150 amp OEM
130amp option (probably better for most)
— 27060-0F040 — 2003-2008 Tundra 130 Amp alternator
what is the factory is300 alternator amp rating? I hope it’s close to the 130amp. Y’all really out here just putting these things in without upgrading the ground wire and charge wires?

Factory is 100 amp. The 150 Sienna is a real good upgrade.
I'm thinking to do this upgrade, but I have some questions before I hit the yard:

@01 SolarYellow, I've seen you say "Sienna" a few times; do you mean this or do you mean "Sequoia"?

I'd prefer to go for the 150 A alternator, but no Sequoias in the yard: only Siennas and Tundras. I also read that perhaps only specific Tundra models have the correct alternator: models w/ the tow package.

It seems like the engine application is the 4.7L 2UZ-FE, with or without VVT-i, given the Wikipedia entries, but this doesn't align w/ Sienna:

They both offer 150 amp. The Sienna has the option as well. If you search the forum. You will find the write up on the conversion.

The only references to the Sienna option I can find are from you. Otherwise, the only thread with specifics is the one linked above about the Tundra or Sequoia parts: High output alternators

'04 - '05 Sienna, 3.3 L V6 3MZ-FE:
'06 - ... Sienna, 3.5 L V6 2GR-FE:
- 270600P24184

Other posts reference the alternators are from Tundra and Sequoia V8 options, presumably the 2UZ-FE VVT-i models.

There are no Tundras or Sequoias in my local junkyards, but a few Sienna's, hence the inquiry.

I use part interchange listings. But it was listed on the swap on the forum.

This is the lesson "buy cheap, buy double".

I have a Mechman 240Amp Alternator. Bought it new and it is worth every €, so far I am runnig an electric-hydraulic power steering pump in my race car which is taking 74 Amps at its limit and killed my last battery. The Mechman does the job as it should.
