Hello,
I have owned my 02 IS300 for 6 years now so my factory warranty is
no longer in effect. I'm located in La jolla of san diego and i hear
there are many complications to getting a new stereo for this car in
particular.

I was tempted just to go into best buy and ask them for a new stereo
but feel as though I might not get what i pay for and don't about
the different brands and what is good and what not.

To put the long story short, does anyone know any place that can
install a new stereo (simply because my cd player is jammed or something
and doesn't respond and getting a new stereo from the dealer is
going to cost 400+). I am looking for one that is just as good if not
better than the stock and has good features. Nothing too pricey
but nothing too cheap.
Thanks,
Richard

it would be better for you to find a used OEM stereo, there are plenty of them around. If you get an aftermarket stereo, you have to bypass the stock amp. The front speakers will work but the rears will not. So best way is to go OEM otherwise you will be opening a can of worms. goodluck, and the stock headunit is very easy to remove

Thank you mikeey. So there would actually be the best possibility then i see?
Ok i'll try looking for those on ebay.. I have another question? Does the '02 model work with any of the IS300 radios? I heard that some changes were made to the 04-06 models but they were minor. Hope that question is clear.

Thanks for the response though i appreciate it.

The '01 stereo is a seperate model, then '02-'05 are the same, then '06 and up are different. Keep an eye out here on the for sale section. People are always selling them when they upgrade. If you go aftermarket, do some reading first, especially if you have factory nav.
