Headlight Housing CRACKS

529 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Martin
I was washing my IS yesterday and I noticed on the bottom of each headlight (where the bumper meets) there are small cracks on each headlight unit. I have never hit anything with my car and I don't thing any rocks would have done this. There is no damage on my bumpers. Is this a defect?

Also, when I noticed the cracks, I noticed that the High-Beam bulbs have a yellowish-orange coating on them. I've already had these replaced once (the bulbs). Is anyone else experiencing this?

When i changed my high beams to a piaa Platinum Series Super White i notice on the stock bulbs there was a whiteish yellowish coating on them that wasnt supposed to be there. It was like some type of water got into the houseing via where the light build goes in. It also wasn't full covering the light. On one it was almost like an old drip mark that dryed up.. dunno what it was.

I know its not on the piaa's that are in now.

Could someone have backed into you? Just a thought...
I had my passenger side unit completely replaced under warranty. If there is moisture build up visible, it should be replaceable under warranty. Check it out on a rainy day when it is more obvious.
the weird thing is there is no moisture inside the headlight @ all. I know what it looks like and i havn't seen it. When i changed my high beam it was only a month after i got the car.
