My passenger low beam was out, got the new bulb but I can’t get the damn socket and bulb into the headlight assembly, messed with it for an hour trying to get it in, wouldn’t work. Is there a trick or something to get it in, there’s not a lot of room to work with and I can’t seem to get it locked in

Btw I hope this shouldn’t be a problem but I broke this little piece off, not on the bulb but some white plastic cover thing on the left

That shield thing you broke is there to prevent arcing between the return wire and the other metal. It's risky not having it there, but if it works, it works. No need to replace unless it actually shorts out, but then you might have to replace the ballast as well. I would slide the remaining shield down. As for replacing the bulbs, it really is best to remove the headlights to do it.
