Yes indeed, the problem has happened before. A simple way to fix it is to take the header to a local muffler shop. Have them sell you a cap for the o2 sensor bung(it screws into the one that doesn't clear the firewall). Then have them drill and weld a new bung for the o2 sensor on the side of the pipe rather that it's current location. It should not be a pricey job so don't let them rip you off.
