Just so you know, the GS motor has some different components on it than the IS engine.

We ran into this with the race car engine. We thought we were getting an IS engine, when in fact it was a GS motor.

We had to swap the water pump (different sized pullies), as well as change the number 1 oil pan. That's the aluminum pan that fits up to the bottom of the block and the steel oil pan bolts to that. It has to be swapped due to the GS oil pan being located behind the front crossmember, where as the IS's oil pan is in front of the cross member.

That number 1 oil pan is a $350 item from Lexus. And a pain in the ass to swap out.

Just a little FYI for ya'....

correct, it uses an electronic firing system with 3 coil packs controlling the 6 spark plugs.

The GS300 motor above is an old looking motor, especially with the pulley mounted fan instead of the electric fans they use now.
But the main thing is, is that you can strip all that crap off the engine and swap the newer IS300 parts onto it.

I was just stating the more main problems you might encounter that are pretty expensive or labor intensive to change.
