I just filled out all the paperwork for my Silver 2001 IS300 w/ leather and sunroof, I think I got a pretty good deal. I am paying a TOTAL of $1,800 out of pocket to cover any inception fees and $420 per month after taxes (for 39 months). This is for fully loaded IS3 minus the LSD. I had to negotiate the price down from $460 per month....

I'm still waiting for my dealer to find my GGP loaded except the LSD. They quoted me a lease deal of $1000 total out of pocket (no security deposit) and $430/month for 60 months - I don't mind a 5 year lease. What do you guys think?

you're going to end up paying over 26,000 over five years then giving the car back...seems like you could have owned if for a few more dollars a month...did they tell you what the 'buy back' would be after the 5 years..? What are your mile limits..?

Hmm...you should be able to do that same exact deal for 39 months. 5 years is a long time for a lease, IMHO.

Although I think that 5 years is a long time to lease any car, if you feel comfortable paying 430 per month for that length of time then its a good deal.

LXS4Ross: It will be tough for anyone to manage that deal with only $1000 total out of pocket for 39months, but I think for an extra 10 bucks a month it could be had.

Just spoke to another lexus dealer who has a GGP coming in 10 days. It is totally loaded with the LSD and the graphite polished wheels. He said the MSRP is $35,300. He's quoting the current Lexus deal of $2,500 out of pocket, $399/month for 39 months. He said I'd have to pay the $700 or so for the LSD and the wheels. What do you guys think? I like 39 months better but didn't want to pay that much out of pocket to lease.

Try to negotiate a similar deal like mine, add a couple of bucks per month for the LSD, I think you could get 430 per month with $1800 total out of pocket. Remember the Invoice on that car is less then 31k... Good luck.

E-shift - My slsp claims that in NJ they only charge tax on the depriciation. He offered this exact deal: $2604 at signing $444/month for 39 months (12,000miles/yr). They seem hesitant to negotiate because of the demand. I would love to get $2000 out of pocket - $430 month. Any advice?

He is right about the demand on the IS3, I went to 4 dealers before I found the car I wanted. This is my method of negotiation, it worked for me. First off, forget any numbers he has given you so far. Tell him that you want to know what the TOTAL (inc. tax) monthly payment would be with $2,000 TOTAL out of pocket, tell him you have no more money to put down. Once you have that base line set, start hammering down the monthly payment to you reach something that is within your budget. Now remember, he might have something in stock that I am sure he will be willing to negotiate on. My dealer was willing to give me a better deal on one he had in stock but he would not go lower then $420 per month on the silver one I wanted but wasn't in stock. So if you reconsider the color, for one that he might have in stock you might get the deal you want. Finally if that dealer can't meet the deal you want call other dealers (if any) in your area and find out what they have in stock, they will always try to move what is in stock first! If that doesn't work try considering a demo with less then 1000 miles.... good luck

Don't forget that you only have a 48 month warranty. Leasing for longer than 48...may need an extended warranty and that'll cost ya

Also, I heard that Lexus is still offering great deals on the 39 month program.

Damn..in MD (I think VA too) you have to pay 5% tax on the WHOLE CAR, no matter how short the lease term is! Last month, I paid $2300 out of pocket (incl. 1st month and sec. deposit) plus $1600 tax. Monthly is $440 (39 mo.) after rolling in the extra LSD and graphite wheels, with a 610 beacon score for the credit (federal student loan default)
I originally asked for the $399 subsidized program. But it requires a Tier 1 credit (beacon score of 700 or 750 plus).

I had bought a '01 RX from my salesperson in January. (That was another successful negotiation in itself; $38500 for 4WD/Navi/tow pkg.; $4700 below MSRP) At that time, I told him I was getting rid of my S2000 to buy an IS from him. So the particulars of my transaction were:

1. I kept my word, which is a rarity these days. You'd better appreicate it.
2. No preference on options and color. I'll pick from what you have on the lot.
3. I want the $399/mo program. Even if I don't qualify, terms can't be too far from those of the subsidized program.

Deal was made in 30 minutes.
