Grammer Lesion

<P>Gad-dummit, it sure ain't like it used to be. I tell you what, when I was in school we had to learn English. As confusing as it can be, we had to learn by golly. These youngins nowadays don't know the difference between a fizzle and a fo snizzle.

<P>Spelling words wrong (or at least differently) is one thing, but when you can't use the RIGHT word, we've all got a problem. So in the interest of community sanity, I offer the following grammatical rules for easy digestion.

<P>** They're/Their/There<BR>
<B>They're is a contraction for They Are as in</B>:<BR>
<I>They're</I> (They are) going to get their asses kicked if they keep going in there.<BR>
<B>Their is third-person plural possesive, as in</B>:<BR>
They're going to get <I>their</I> asses kicked if they keep going in there.<BR>
<B>There is a place (not necessarily tangible) as in</B>:<BR>
They're going to get their asses kicked if they keep going in <I>there</I>.

<P>** You're/Your<BR>
<B>You're is a contraction for You Are as in</B>:<BR>
<I>You're</I> (You are) going to wreck your car, you old curmudgeon.<BR>
<B>Your is second-person singular possesive, as in</B>:<BR>
You're going to wreck <I>your</I> car, you old curmudgeon.

<P>** To/Too/Two<BR>
<B>Two is a number, between One and Three, as in</B>:<BR>
If you want to see Barry Manilow, buy <I>two</I> tickets, I want to go too.<BR>
<B>Too is an adverb (often used as a synonym for Also), as in</B>:<BR>
If you want to see Barry Manilow, buy two tickets, I want to go <I>too</I>.<BR>
<B>To is a preposition, used a function word, as in</B>:<BR>
If you want <I>to</I> see Barry Manilow, buy two tickets, I want <I>to</I> go too.

<B>It's is a contraction for It Is or It Has, as in</B>:<BR>
<I>It's</I> (It has) been a hard day, let's find a stray dog and kick its ass.<BR>
<B>Its is third-person singular possesive (like his or hers), as in</B>:<BR>
It's been a hard day, let's find a stray dog and kick <I>its</I> ass.
