Its been a while since I posted here, so Im a little surprised at the new layout. Its nice

Anyway, I just wanted to share my tale of the Missing IS. About 3 weeks ago, my car starting acting funny. It wouldnt go above 60 mph without the engine feeling like it was running on 3 cylinders. There was NO power, and I cant be sure, but I think it may have backfired once or twice. I managed to limp home, and the next morning, I called roadside assistance, and a flatbed was sent out to fetch it.

The dealership is at a total loss, or so they claim. They cant figure out whats wrong with it after all this time. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I even saw the car. They call me daily with updates, and they seem to be doing everything they can to make it right. Im not complaining, since I know Lexus will make it right. I do miss my baby though

i don't think it was a problem caused soley as a result of a backfire... the worst thing a backfire is likely to do is blow your catalytic converter which should be a relatively easy fix...

sounds suspicious to me... if its taken 3 weeks to locate the problem (they could have taken the entire engine apart and reassembled it in 3 weeks!), their mechanics are either stupid or they are lying to you to cover something up....either way, I'd look into your state/federal lemon laws to protect your interests...

good luck!

my 2 cents only though...

Hey IIIseries!
It's time to complain. Daily updates are nice, but if they are not fixing your car, it's time for a new one. A similar story happened to my friend. She bought a brand new 330ci, and was able to drive it about 56 miles before the transmission dropped. she towed it back to the BMW dealer and they fixed it. About 10 days later, the trany dropped again. This time they flew a specialist out from NJ and after 2 weeks he couldn't fix it. They gave her another brand new 330ci, with all the options she had before. They concluded that the problem is within the vehicle's electronics and the problem will probably never be resolved.

Time to start documenting your misfortune, and inconvenience of not having your car. This will make a good case for you.

Are you in Fort Worth right now? If so, are you fixing your car at Sewell Lexus? Did they give you a loner IS?

Well, good luck in getting your car fixed.

Hey Gennady, looks like he is in Cali.

III Series, I think it is time for them to give you a new one. They can fix your and use it as a loaner.

Gennady and Hunt, actually my fiance and I moved to California last week, but this happened while we were still in Texas. Ive had to fly back twice to deal with it, and now Im going to have to stick around until the car is fixed for certain (I HATE flying). I would have liked for them to have taken it to Sewell, but they towed it to Park Place instead, since it was closer.

I'll keep you guys posted.
