Listen to DL- I was in the same boat- i wasted a SHITLOAD of money on I/H/E mods + tuning, etc, for a measley 20rwhp. Sold it all for about a 50% loss, then bought my turbo setup.

If you're even thinking of going turbo, don't waste your money on NA mods- they will only serve to make your car loud and annoying without that whole "fast" factor

Its funny how whenever someone PMs me about turbo ktis they think all they need is $5-6k. Just hear me and hear me well. YOU WILL NEVER SPEND JUST $5-6k. Make sure since u want a kit that u factor in everything you can think of cause its gonna go up and UP and UP!

Turbo

why does everyone have to keep spending money after the turbo is in

are things going wrong, and having to replace them is what is costing money?

how much do u think it is going to run me about to get like a Toyomoto Stage 1 turbo?

It's not so much that you 'have' to spend more, but it's more like a drug addiction - you just can't get enough boost. For me, a really low psi felt super powerful and fast at first, but now I have it at 14 and it's just not enough. So, more money gets dumped into it to fulfill the 'craving' for more power. Make sense?

Turbo means more money for multiple reasons...(I will list a few...)

1. If you're a 5spd owner...it could mean as little as a high performance clutch/pressure plate or as much as an entire new tranny.
2. You will need more rubber to hold that power...which means bigger tires and possibly wheels.
3. You will be going faster and will need something to stop you, so brakes will be needed.
4. Upgrades is the biggest though...there is always a product out there to better your current setup. Whether it is an intercooler, cam gear, headgasket, standalone, ignition, injectors, cams, exhaust, etc.

The list goes on and on. All I'm saying is don't expect to get away with spending only 5-6k...once you get your kit, you will need other goodies...trust me on this!

Toyomoto Stage 1 is 10,500 installed...thats with just that

but then u need a 3 inch turbo exhaust...say u go with the PF exhaust thats $600

a good accessority to have is a turbo timer..they can range from 200 to 600+ dollars...

then u need gauges most likely another couple hundred with guage pod installed

by time u leave the shop your going to be around 12,000 not including tracking suspension and brakes

and i no there is other stuff that i didn't mentioned ..but by time u leave the shop...its going to be a lot more than what u expected

if u don't get tires, you'll be spinning all the way down the road. Talk to turnip8snatch about this.

Starting out plan to spend 10 to 15k. Then who knows from there.

If you want to spend money on a couple of mods maybe work on bigger brakes, sways, coilovers, wheels/tires. shrug up to you. I would listen to the guys & ladies that have turbos already so you don't double spend your money.

I was in the same boat as you thinking about getting a few mods to hold me over until the turbo. All the mods I was gonna do would be replaced when the turbo gets installed. Plus the more reading here has changed my plans hopefully for the better.
