For all you people who have been coming in here lately, the newbies, that have been causing conflicts and bragging about your new 330ci, well I've got news for you guys. You guys want to know why us IS300 owners don't buy one? Ask yourself, why would intelligent buyers pay $8k more on a car that is slightly if at all performs better than the IS300. Plus, the IS300 styling is much nicer. Yes, its a matter of opinion but you guys have also stated your share of it. Truthfully, I would never buy a 330ci. The S4, seems like a better deal to me. At $43k the car is fully loaded, and can whoop the 330ci on the strip, track, street, you name it. So, don't sit there and brag, just realize that you've made a mistake! If you're going to buy a car for that much, the S4 is where it's at!

The 330ci is about $34,990 MSRP - before you ballon the price with options. The 330Ci is the up-level coupe trim of the 3-Series. Upgrades over the 325Ci include power front seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a 225-horsepower engine. The IS300 is a very nice car, but the BMW is just better. You do know that, right? I know you are sick of hearing that, but it's true. The advantage of the IS300 is in it's price.
Ok, there is an essential ($3,000) package too... The IS300 is still a much better bargain - $1,000, $2,000, $8,000, whatever it may be..

Could you post some evidence to support this? The 330Ci has better 0-60 and skidpad numbers than the is300 according to magazine tests. As for the track, bring your car to a track event and we can drive each other's cars and we can see.

As for the S4, it's a faster car, but it's just not as fun as the BMW and just not as fun as RWD in general. I test drove one when making my purchase decision and was very disappointed by the numb steering.

better in what ways? don't say all, because lexus has them well beat in reliability, so what areas are you referring to?
Everyone has to make a buying decision based on their personal preferences. If I had wanted a bargain, I'd have gone with an Acura CL or TL. But I wanted at MINIMUM what the BMW 3-series provided: the fun, the luxury, and that silly-assed grin that only a BMW can do so well. And this is something I tell people...if on your first test drive of a BMW you don't get that silly-assed grin on your face, it's NOT the car for you. If you can't appreciate it, don't buy it.
I'm not sure where alot of people are getting the numbers from. I just recently oredered my 2001 BMW 330ci at a final price of $36,310.

My car has/will have the following.
-Leather
-Xenon
-Sport package
-Power Glass Moonroof
-5 Speed

As for me, I personally like the styling of the BMW over most anything Japanese. Like I've said before, to me the IS300 really doesn't look like anything more than a customized Honda. The IS300 may very well be a good car. But AS FOR ME, I enjoy german engineering over Japanese.

Well said... Also, too many people assume that the Lexus has the BMW beat in realibility becuase it's Japanese...

Don't you people ever get sick of arguing over the same frigin topic.

I drive my car, you drive your car. Maybe 1% of you will ever drive their 330 on a track, so just shut up and guzzle some gas while doing some city driving.

Well... It will beat the BMW in reliablity without a question.. My parents have owned MANY BMW's since the mid 80's and have had loads of problems with each and every one of them... These are 7 series too... I'm impartial here as I don't have either a BMW or Lexus..
Eric...
NOOO!!! it has beat in reliability because of

Don't get me wrong cause I love the IS in terms of its design, reliablity, and pricing but performance wise I think the 330 wins. I've driven both and the BMW does handle a bit better and is a bit faster but this all changes next year with the 5spd and some adjustments on Lexus' part.

I don't think the price is as big of an issue as some people may think...if you can afford an IS, you can afford a 330.

It's a whole different story if you're comparing between the IS and the 325 though...
And where, pray tell did you get a car with an MSRP of $39,635 (exactly $5,000 more than my car) for $36,310? That's $620 over invoice. Dayam! (I'm assumed you got the "5-speed" manual, but no cd player, no Harmon-Kardon.)

Anyways, before every BMW owner come into this thread and says what a good bargin the 330 is, the 43K everyone talks about is for a similarly optioned car.
-Sport & Premium & Cold Weather pkg.
-Steptronic
-Xenon
-Harmon Kardon & CD player

Yes, automatics may suck, but some people actually want one. I need one 'cause a manual ferrari and an automatic Ford Focus will go just as fast during traffic on 405.

That's right... compare 20 year old BMW's to a brand new Lexus... The IS300 has been out for under a year ( 6 months? ) and you already have realiblity ratings?

He was comparing the S4 to the 330ci. Not the 330ci to the IS300.

Is it me or is this de ja vu????

Quikvr6, sweet deal on the bimmer.

This is how you quote...
did you even read the article? the motor has been around for 9 years, and the japanese version has been around for 2, so maybe they incorporated that into the study.

irregardless, the study was done by a well known, respectable, unbiased company and it shows lexus' are know for there reliability, there is no real need to worry about the IS being anything different, history has shown it past and is a prediction for the immeadiate future also.

that link is a fact, and you can not argue with a fact.

ok for the record.. My mom has a 2000 BMW 740iL.. Since she bought it, The NAV/On board computer died and took over a week to get the part, Next the car didn't start and she had to have it towed to the dealer (Oxygen sensor), Power steering pump failed... My mom took delivery of the car in August of 1999 and these problems are inexcusable.. They've had many problems with previous 7 series as well...
Eric...

well, if you hadn't bolded the word ass in assume, then it wouldn't have messed up the UBB auto quote option, i didn't pay attention to that, i was more worried about actual important things, like facts.

i fixed it so that you could sleep at night, feel better?
