Ok I got some nittos 275 Drag radials. I have the stock 17 in rims on the car. I wanted to know if the Ford Motorsports Cobra - R wheel would fit the IS since I can get them really cheap to just use for drag racing. Here are the specs of the cobra wheels:

Ford: 1994-2003 Mustang, 17 in. x 9 in., 5 x 4 1/2 in. bolt pattern, 5.95 in. backspacing, Cobra "R" wheel

Cariza, the IS's bolt pattern is 5x114.3 which is 5x4.5" so the bolt pattern should match up. The offset, I'm assuming 5.95" backspacing means the distance from the back of the rim to the hub mounting surface. The offset is the distance of the hub mounting surface relative to the center of the rim. So 5.95" would be:

5.95" - 4.5" (rim is 9" and the center is 4.5") = 1.45" or +36.83 mm, in other words, you're going to have to shave or roll your rear lips.

Also keep in mind the hub bore on the IS is 60 mm, make sure the Cobra R rims are the same size or larger. If they're larger then get some hub-centric rings. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input, Ive never messed with aftermarket wheels before, Im a big newb at it, but I make up for it in the performance department

I also found these:

Ford: 17 in. x 8 in., 5 x 4 1/2 in. bolt circle, 5.72 in. backspacing, aluminum, silver powdercoated, Cobra wheel

and this one:

Ford: 17 in. x 8 in., 5 x 4 1/2 in. bolt circle, 5.72 in. backspacing, forged aluminum, silver metallic painted, Cobra wheel

Though they are only 8in wide, whats the widest tires I can put then and will the backspacing fit?
