Finish First VS Carb. Wax

636 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Acerone
From everyone's rave reviews of finish first it sounds like good stuff and I would probably give it a try. I was wondering how it compared to the physical protection of a good hard Carb. wax?

Will Finish First minimize minor paint chips like a good layer of hard wax would?

I have a silver IS so I am more concerned with protection from the elements and paint chips. The shine is secondary since it is not as noticiable on a silver.

they're different. FF is a polymer protectant that actually bonds to your paint (that's why no wax can be on it to begin with), while caranuba is a true wax. i've used zymol on my 951 before, and FF blows it away. totally and completely.

FF lasts considerably longer, too. i've used lots of stuff, and FF is the best i've ever used. i'm sold.
I just like to know if FF offers the same type of "Physical" protection a hard layer of Carb wax will.
isn't Nu Finish a polymer protectant also?
how does that stack up to FF?

FF bonds a layer of itself to the paint, so yes, there is a physical barrier between the paint and the world. as far as the durability of the two substances, i know FF lasts about 6-9 months, even in harsh weather. zymol (caranuba) bested at about 3.
don't listen to geoff, they pay him to advertise

hey, but finish first rules.. you really have to try it for yourself. I am not putting second coating on because its too damn shiny already.
It is starting to get cold up in the northeast already. it there a minimun temp for this. 50 Degrees?

LOL...their checks are late, then.

i put a second coat on my cl-s in 45 degree weather, no problems

go for it
My 2 cents. FF also has a UV protectant in the polish of 97.88%.
