What are the "rules" for breaking-in a new engine. I've heard to keep to speed under 65 for 1000 miles, but then I've also heard that speed doesn't matter as much as acceleration and RPM.

Anyone have the real scoop?

Do a search on the topic, you'll find a lot of info...
FYI, all engines will need a break in period while the pistons seat with the cylinders... the dealer may tell you the engine is already broken in, (as they did for me) but take it easy for the 1st 1000 miles. You're right, RPM is the real factor to watch out for, but that's not independant from speed nor acceleration.
