when i test drove the IS in manual mode at the dealership, the car made a beep at a certain RPM to tell the driver that it was time to shift. however my car does not. not that i need to hear the beep, but how do you turn that on and off?

I only notice the beep when you shift to lowest or highest "possible" gear...

I think he meant if he had a 6th. The one which would come after 5th. So it beeps when you try to go to the 6th which you don't have.

Here's a subtle question. I know e-shift will REFUSE to downshift if you are already making revs above the redline for the gear to which you are telling it to go. For instance, if you're making over 73 MPH in fourth and hit "DOWN" nothing will happen (thank goodness!). The question is whether e-shift will also "beep" in this case? I really don't remember!

yes it will beep if your rpm's are to high to shift to a lower gear

ummm.. put the IS in the oven for 25 min @ 250 deg. Leave the car in 5 and when you here the beep take it out and your @ 73 mph?

put the shifter to "m" mode (e-shift)
press "down" on ur steering wheel, while going 73...

iz just a downshifting....
