This was addressed before ( Search brought up too many responses) but I don't think there ever was a consensus. There were a lot of good guesses though. Someone probably had it correct

Edmunds.com gave the suggestion that it means "Intermediate Sedan"...but they rephrased it to "Image Shattering" after reviewing it. Read the review here http://www.edmunds.com/edweb/brauer/is300/01.lexus.is300.fd.html
