As the title states, has anyone been able to find these motors that operate the forward and backward motion? Mine just gave up. Granted I’m being lazy as it just happened today and I haven’t taken anything apart yet. I plan on taking it apart and applying voltage directly to the motor(s) just to make sure it’s dead.

Every other function works as it should, recline works, the seat bottom tilts and goes up and down. The seat just won’t move forward or backward.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so what did you do to fix it? Also does anyone know if these motors are still available?

The part you're looking for that isn't a million dollars other than that the dealership wants 500 for a new one. IMO I'd rather end up buying 2 or 3 before I drop 500 on a new one. I've had good luck with used OEM stuff. PN 85820-30710 I think might wanna double check.

A lot of people seem to hate eBay and I’ll never know why. I’m always finding deals or stuff there that’s not too common. There’s a couple good Lexus salvagers/recyclers whom I buy stuff from there.

I'm actually planning on getting rid of my front seats for some corbeaus. Trying to cut some weight, and the seats are too slow for my liking.
I've been wanting to replace the seats in my turbo car - to save weight and to provide some better bolstering... But how do you choose? There's thousands of aftermarket seats out there, ranging from $200 to $5000 and it's not like you get to touch/feel/try them before buying.

Also - are you people adjusting your seats often? I mean, I don't share my car with anyone...but I prolly haven't touched my seat controls since the first week I bought the car.

I'm thinking about the Braum Elite X. They aren't super expensive, looks pretty good, and based on reviews, are pretty comfortable with good bolstering support. They also come with lifetime warranty and isn't heavy. I don't share my car with anyone either but sometimes I move the seat to get under the dash or clean the car.

I end up changing my seating position more often than not. Usually because I keep hitting the slider button if I'm cleaning the car out, or reaching inside for something from outside the driver's side. I have the same problem in my f150. And my 8 year old plays the with seats all the time, so the passenger side changes every time he gets in the car.

I want the corbeau GTS 2s, but I want to at least try and sit in a set before I bite the bullet on them.

You might be able to find a store that has the seats on display/seating purposes. Very hard to find though. Also the Corbeau GTS 2 don’t look that different from the stock ones support wise but I might be mistaken. My main problem with the stockers was lifting off the seats at higher cornering speeds. Gripping the steering wheel for dear life while trying to steer was not a good feeling…

My solution to accidentally bumping the seating position was to pull the fuse. Works very well. Too well when things get stuck underneath though. That’s assuming you have power seats although there’s the memory function for me at least. Don’t know if that’s standard.

Sure you get to touch / feel / try them before you buy. Over the last ~20 years I have bought well over a dozen different race seats in my various cars (some street legal, some purpose-built racers) and I've sat in each and every one of them before pulling the trigger. Any half-decent retailer will likely have several different models in several different sizes in their showroom.

It's also very tiring. Acceptable for a quick jaunt through a section of esses, but that's about it. Also - as with most things, your ability to do a good job depends heavily on how ergonomically comfortable you are.

I guess there might be a couple big cities with lots of retailers; each representing multiple brands - which would give someone the chance to spend a day driving around trying out different products... Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas come to mind... But for the rest of us, it's not an option. Still, considering the wild variety of choices and sizes of products in this market - I think you'd still only be accessing a very small cross-section of what's available out there.

Prolly best approach is to go to a track day and check out what everybody's got.

I chose the GTS II because they look like stock seats, but are more bolstered than the factory seats. They have larger kidney bolsters and have thigh bolsters. Here's a picture that's a bit clearer than the black seats.

Compared to the factory seats, a lot more support

I also tend to change my seating positions depending on what shoes I'm wearing, if I'm wearing a jacket or not, and just how I'm feeling that day. Lol.

I don't have a memory function, but I do have power seats. And they're slow. At least, too slow for my tastes. My favorite seats ever are still the factory Toyota seats in my 84 supra P-Type.

Well, got around to looking at the seat motor today and I think the seat was just stuck very well in the rail. So there is a provision to manually move the seat forward with a 12mm socket. So I moved it forward slightly and then tried the switch and sure enough it worked. So I just greased the rails a little and it’s working just like it was before.

As far as eBay is concerned, I bought one thing from there years (I mean years) ago and I received a damaged item. I got the situation resolved but I just don’t trust used stuff I can’t physically touch myself. There are also some people claiming OE parts and then sometimes they aren’t or there Is some type of discrepancy. Idk I just don’t do eBay. Haven’t for at least 15 years so…

Ebay is very hit or miss. I've got OEM plugs and wires for 50% off and a brand new rack that cracked in my fingers. It's fine if you're willing to deal with the hassle of returns.
