what do you think would win in a drag....97 supra n/a auto vs IS300 auto. I think it would be pretty close, but I feel the IS would end up coming out a hair faster. But theyre the same engine, so it would be very close. I think the IS is lighter isnt it?

probalby the is300...i really don't know why people have n/a supras...the turbo supra's engine is built like a mofo(can handle 500-600 hp on stock internals) and costs a little bit more...the only reason i see for an n/a supra is for someone who can't really afford to buy one right off or something who just wants the car's design

I think the supra would win quite easily. Supra's are built for race...even the n/a one. The IS300 isn't as fast as everyone thinks it is. I still love my car though. The IS300 is moree show than go.

1998 Supra / 2001 IS300
3265lbs / 3270lbs (very close - advantage Supra)
225hp / 215hp (advantage Supra)
220lb-ft / 218lb-ft (very close - advatage Supra)
0-60=7.1 / 0-60=7.5 (advantage Supra)
4 speed auto / 5 speed auto (advantage IS300)
35.8' turning circle / 37.4' (advantage Supra)

FYI: the 1998 Supra Manual does 0-60 in about 6.4, so the 2002 IS300 manual should be somewhere around 6.7 for 0-60.

Its such a shame that we have to compare our IS300s to the slowest 1998 Supra (N/A auto)...
The twin turbo or manual N/A will easily beat the 2001 IS300 in 0-60 or 1/4 mile.

Also - sorry that I am showing 1998 data. The 1997 Supra didn't have VVT-i and (the 1997 N/A Supra auto) is actually almost idential in performance to the IS300.

you know that this means: Someone needs to drop the supra twinturbo's engine and manual tranny into the IS!
