@ what speed range, can you drop from 3rd gear to 2nd?

I tend to do that when i'm going about 30mph from 3rd to 2nd and the call pulls back.

I was wondering if this is o.k. or not?

It is OK.
I used to give it a little gas while downshifting (Rev-Matching if you will) e-shift.
Those times are gone now. 8)

That is normal. I layman's terms its the same sense as when the car upshifts, the rpm drops because you're in a higher gear so when you downshift, the rpm will go up depending what gear you're in and how fast you are going.

I always blip the gas when I e-downshift. A psuedo rev-match if you will.

i tricked a girl into beleiving me that i had nitrous...we were on the freeway late at nite and she was like "so do u have NOS or watever they call it" and i go "yup" and she says "nuh uh" so i e-shift downshift to 3rd at 65-70mph and VROOOM the car screams

I was told by the sales guy when i test drove the IS that you can never blow up the engine if you over-rev it, while e-shifting, not sure if it's true ot not.

But i usually upshift @ over 4K

e-shift will not let you downshift if downshifting at current speed would cause the engine to go over the red line.
You can, however, accelerate in e-shift mode up to red-line. Overrev limiter will kick in afterwards. I've done it a few times.

now that i think about it...i was E-shifting and i decided to punch second as far as it can go....and right when i hit redline it looked like it went into 3rd, or jus cut the gas so my RPMs lowered. What happened here?

Yep, if you don't shift and hit redline, then the limiter kicks in until the revs drop below redline.

No problem all the way up to 115 MPH! 8)
You can even downshift into 3rd going 78MPH, then upshift into 4th. :boring:

P.S.
Have any of you actually drivven the car the way it was meant to? :-?

E-shift mode will not upshift. Over-rev will kick in.

Of course not, why do u dink i'm asking!

Even with my 01, i never did anything stupid to what you're mentioning or me asking.

So just in case for future reference, i know that it will be possible.

Well gee, I don't really know. I kinda figured the E shift was for controlling gears and engine speed and acceleration and engine braking without having to use that cumbersome shift handle thing on the console, but what do I know?

I've only been driving for forty some years and all I know is pappy taught me to keep the shiy side up and the dirty side down.

Not to threadjack or anything. But how many e-shift users have lag when accelerating at 80 mph...like the rpms will stick, and not go any farther (at around 5000 rpms) for a few seconds, then pop up past it?

Fucking pisses me off. Resetting the ECU does NOT help.

I usually don't e-shift when i'm above 60 mph.

i only downshift from that point.

Call me paranoid, i might afraid to break it.
