Just would like to let you guys know that I’ve found my driver side door hinge pin was moving its way up. I remember that one of the listers said that the pin on his car came off, so keep an eye on it. I greased mine and tapped it lightly back in with a hammer.

that was me. mine keeps coming out. the dealership is replacing the whole hinge.

actually I stuck a screwdriver in the top pin hole and widened the tip a little bit. This prevents the pin from coming out.

Yup, had that problem too. Had them fix it at the 5K service. Nice sound, eh?

Happend to me too at around 10k. NOw it's happening again with me approaching 20k miles. I hope this doesn't happen every 10k miles...

I don't know if my problem is related to door hinge or not. I was waiting at the light the other night and as I started to accelerate, I heard a pop noise and the door eject light went off. I pulled over and check. I found out that the front passanger door was poped open!!! I'm gonna have it checked at my 5k service. That door has been difficult to shut ever since we purchased the car.

Mine did it about a month ago..tapped it back in with a small hammer..just noticed today it's doing it again...time to bust the hammer out again!!

Uh Oh, it's been exactly 31 days since I had the dealer tap the pin back in. Guess what? It's come loose again! Grrrrrr...

Guess I'll have to call the service department. Maybe I'll get a new hinge like IS300girl did. I don't want a chronic problem.

Hey Sheila,

It's only been a week since I had the new hinge installed so it's to soon to tell if there will be any problems with the new one.

I spoke to the service manager when I went in last week and he said that Lexus realized that there was a problem with the hinge pin and redesigned the hinge and/or pin. I took a look at the new one and you can tell the pin is larger. Now I'm just waiting for the same thing to happen on the passenger's side..........

IS300girl, I'm gonna talk with the service manager and let him know that I KNOW there's a problem with this and if it comes loose again after we fix it this time, I want a new hinge. I think that's fair. Three times is the charm. What do you think?

I think that's more than fair. I made them replace it the second time it came out. I told them that I refused to keep dealing with the same issue over and over again. My dealership didn't have the part in stock so make sure they order it for you.

Yea i had the same problem. Lexus replaced the pin and they also put some type of red rubber glue around the pin so that it does not come out again.

Here we go AGAIN! Door pin coming loose for the THIRD time. Already called service. They'll take a look tomorrow a.m.

There's a replacement hinge available. Ask your dealer. I'm set to have one replaced.
