Bare with me...I was doing a little math...

Rod Millen claims a gain of 16hp at the wheels. This brings the IS from 161hp to 187hp (at the wheels) This is roughly a 16.15% increase in hp. Relatively speaking, would this bring the 215bhp of the IS to 249.7225.

161hp x 16.15% = 187.005hp (187hp) as RM claims

215hp x 16.15% = 249.7225hp (250hp)

Does this make sense??? If so, effectively, that is a gain of 35bhp. Pretty impressive for just changing the intake and exhaust...

Someone please verify whether this is sensible or mindless banter...

I have no idea about the validity of the original numbers, but I believe your math is wrong. You say that an increase of 16hp at the rear wheels brings it up from 161 to 187, but isn't it really 177? This is an increase to rear wheel HP of about 10%, which, if it translated linearly to engine HP (no idea here), would make the engine HP 236hp.

Just keeping the numbers straight...

Rob
