I leased my 2003 is3 and want to put in a custom intake. I spoke with the dealer and they said it is fine to put one in retaining the airbox but said i cant touch the wiring. I know other intakes require soldering of the wires and i wanted to see if this one (pro lex silent intake) does as well?

Thanks for the info and love the site!

The PLP Silent Flow Intake requires nothing.

Just swap out the intake tube and filter... thats it. Also make sure you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery before you do anything. This is for safety and so the ECU can reset and adjust itself for the new intake. Easiest upgrade I've ever done and the results are well worth it.

Most intakes do NOT require soldering unless they have an auxillary ECU. The PLP intake does not have an ECU and like Munky said, is a VERY EASY install. Steve and I can each probably do it in under four minutes. ;)

Don't forget we've got a good deal on the PLP strut bars too now.
