I've heard of people using pumps to remove the oil from the engine (but not with this particular device), and it beats jacking up the car and crawling underneath to drain the oil.
Yes I have that exact one and used it for my first oil change. Its very easy to use and mess free. But the tube you stick into the dipstick needs to be cleaned up after each use. If you have a Westmarine store near by, you should buy it there since its cheaper (Same item but has another sticker on it instead of Griott's).
