Man I can't believe I missed this thread.

Time to get my calipers back from Fig, and order the TT and RCA adapters (sold the figs TT adapters awhile ago, doh!)

Will the stock IS300 braided brake lines work? I already have some Stoptechs on there.
Man, I gotta give em back haha.
To be honest it all the craziness I have forgotten exactly where they came from. PM me, I think I am done with them...although I need one more scan to build a press fit template alignment for the adapters.

Just to clarify, are you saying the OEM lines AND hardware (stock banjo, banjo bolt) work with LS400 calipers?

if this is correct, then yes...any stock or aftermarket lines made for the stock IS300 calipers will also work with the LS400 calipers
yeah im 99.9% sure the stock hardware works with them. I bought SS IS300 lines which i assume have the same hardware

press out the one that is in the caliper now, you can use a hammer or something to get that out...it depends on what you have handy, along with something to put up against the adapter to push it out of the hole: like a socket, extension, or screw driver

Nice write up. Usually how much could you get the LS calipers for?
I got mine for $275 shipped off of clublexus. They pop up there and on Supraforums occasionally.

I didn't take pictures during my install, but I posted some potenially helpful info in this thread:

http://my.is/forums/f174/ls400-calipers-install-414942/

Mainly part numbers for the rebuild kits. I decided to go ahead and replace all the seals since I took the calipers apart to powder coat (front and rear). They were something like $50 for the front and $60 for the rear if I remember right (from Lexus).

It might be a good idea to rebuild them while they are off the car. It doesn't take too much time and I felt a lot better knowing that everything was basically "new" rather than 15 years old.

Thats nice.. how much of an improvement did it make? I find my OEM brakes to be very good but after my motor build I am going to go with a BBK

The LS calipers won't have enough clearance and the bolt holes won't line up without the spacer. Though I still had to sand down my left caliper a little so it would fit.

maybe a stupid question, but why the lower ball joint spacer? is it so the rotor will clear?
The lower ball joint spacer is used because the bottom side of the LS calipers hits the stud of the outer tie rod.

The caliper adapters are used to get the bolt holes to line up.

With those "two" parts mine bolted up 100% no modifications to the calipers.

Im pumped to do this, I just bought a set of LS400 Calipers for $120 picked up!! They are off of a 96 LS400 so they should work. I also read some where that there are 2 different size front rotors for the 95-00 LS400 is this true?

Figured I'd contribute to this thread a little bit after having searched and read a lot on here, but first wanted to thank the OP for an awsome write up :)

I came up with a list of pros and cons comparing OEM vs. Supra TT vs. LS400

PROS:
-These calipers are MUCH easier to track down & get hold of vs. supra calipers(literally tried searching for months for supra calipers and every set on here fell through for one reason or another and remanufactured ones from autoparts stores all have an infinite national backorder)

-Calipers are about 3-4lbs lighter than supra calipers and about 7 lbs lighter than OEM caliper w/ bracket

-Rotors are about 1/2 lb lighter than supra(blank vs. blank) but about 1.5lbs heavier than OEM (again comparing only blank vs. blank) all due differences in rotor size....Supras are the biggest @ 325mm, LS400's are slightly smaller @ 315mm and OEM is 295mm

-Either upgrade works with stock or aftermarket stainless lines

-Rotor selection is all the same(various companies make plenty of blank, slotted, or drilled & slotted rotors for all 3 brakes)

-Either caliper upgrade is a huge cosmetic improvement over OEM

CONS:
-Pad selection is narrower than supra or OEM front capliers but not by much, EBC makes their green and red compounds, but not yellow, hawk makes HPS but nothing beyond that, carbotech seems to make every compound

-Rotors are slightly smaller than supra and don't fill up the wheel as nicely

now as far as cost here's how I did it:
-Remanufactured calipers from autozone 216 out the door(70 is part of core refund so after I take the OEM calipers back it'll only be around 145)
-Autozone front rotors 102 out the door(2 year warranty against warping/other defects)
-Orielly's rear rotors 78 out the door(2 year warranty against warping/other defects)
-Figs retrofit kit 250 shipped
-RBC redstuff pads front & rear & technafit stainless lines 270 shipped from THM(though I'd avoid them, their shipping is a PITA and customer service is about zero)
-1 bottle of ATE super blue 21 shipped(ebay)
-1 set of decals 12 shipped(ebay)

grand total for all 4 corners of pads/lines being upgraded over OEM and converting to LS calipers/discs is about 950 and after core refund will be down to around 880, not bad for a huge brake performance upgrade as well as a noticeable cosmetic upgrade
