Now how is it possible that a Dodge Viper with an 8.0 liter engine to get 12/21 mpg (significantly better than the Ferrari 550 Maranello which has the fuel economy of a Ford Excursion)?

That Ferrari sound just takes a few MPG by itself. The Viper doesn't bother trying to sound elegant

I agree TEG, Ferrari engines make the most beautiful sounds.
Do you think that the Ferrari, Rolls Royce, and Bentley are so inefficent because the engines themselves are built buy hand?

Its mpg, motion picture entertainment group, er I mean miles per gallon. ie. 21 miles per gallon. Since when did you hear someone say I got .00476 gallons per mile out of my car last week.

I agree on the Ferrari engine sound, the best out there. I was following a F355 F1 not too long ago in front of John Wayne Airport, and even at low cruising speed, this car just sound amazing. I have heard many people said that they like viper's engine sound but personally I think it just adds to the noise pollution. Nice engine though
