just called the Ken Shaw lexus dealer. THey said IS300 fully loaded (17" rims, leather , sunroof etc) including taxes will be around 54,000!!! They said they will be having a yellow demo one in the show room in the 2nd week of June!!!
Hummmm.......Now i am reconsidering about this car. $54,000 fully loaded...I may be considering about the 328 coz the price is not that much off from the IS and also it offers Manual Trans....Or maybe thinking of leasing the ML430 or X5 instead.

Is that $54,000 including all applicable taxes (GST, PST, GAs Tax bla bla bla)?

Cause if it is......What a rip off!!!!
Too expensive....Looks like I wont be getting one.

that works out to $36,500 US approx ; )

Yes, I would believe Cdn$54K on the road, i.e. (GST, PST, freight, PDI, etc) which comes to Cdn $46L for a full-loaded model.

I just called Don Valley and they say the base price is around Cdn$40K.

Similar in the States, the final price is a bit higher than anticipated. Don Valley once estimated that the base price will be around Cdn$39K though another dealer did quote the base price to be around $40K.

For a fully-loaded 2000 ES300, it's around Cdn$49K(before tax with chrome wheel). So the $30K difference between IS300 and ES300 account for missing memory seats, hydraulic hood rods, lower quality dash materials, less wood trim and a few missing convenience items ??

I should see how my test drive impression goes...

I love the way this car looks and its stats, except I was told I would be able to get it on the road for under $50,000 .... not sure if its looks and stats are still that great for only a couple thousand less than a 328

Fiasco:

If you get the base model, you should be able to get it on the road for less than 50,000..... Whoever told you wasn't lying....

But it does seem like the price is on the high side....I really had my heart set on it, but maybe second thoughts are on the way.....

I highly recommend you don't import. Unless you wanna pay twice as much for the Altezza as the IS300 here in the US. Good luck with all the paper work and trying to pass US regulations with the Altezza. In my mind, its not worth importing any cars here unless you plan on doing exhibits and the like, and making some money on the side. If importing cars, like the Altezza was cheaper, then everyone and their mom would buy one. So to answer your question, its hella lot more expensive.

FYI, I asked a salesman in Don Valley yesterday and he told me the official pricing is not out yet.

So Ken Shaw's pricing is only a guessimate.

If you think that the is300 is too much.(which it is considering that it is on a corolla platform). Try checking out the Acura Cl type-S. Its got a 260hp engine versus the lexus' 215, and it comes fully loaded for $40,000 cnd. I bought a black on black leather cl two months ago and i wouldnt trade it in for a car double its price. its a lot better bargain than the IS300 for 10,000 cheaper. Check it out!

I am not living Canada, but my little curiosity about the IS300 forced me to come in this topic. The CL-s owner said IS300 is based on a Corolla platform. That is not true. IS300 or Altezza in Japan is totally a independent line of product. It doesn't share the platform with any other model - infact, this is the reason for making the Altezza and IS300 so unique.
