Can we change taillights?

I was wondering, since the 2002 smoked taillights look better, if the dealer can install the new ones on the 2001 model. I think the smoked out ones look more classy and different. I want them 'cause the 2001 model lights are being used on Accords, Civics, and Integras. Anyone know? Thanks.

They should be a direct replacement but its gonna be EXPENSIVE (im thinking)
Does anyone know how much the 01 taillights cost from the dealer!

if its too much im just gonna get the Modellista black tailights, even though they are 600 bucks a set.

I tried calling the dealer and they did not have any pricing yet for the 02 parts.

I want to get the following items
02 front grill
02 armrest
02 tailights
The taillights are about 230 each..so actually it will be cheaper I imagine than modellista or getting them from somewhere else. I doubt black housing will raise the price that much.
Once you get them install them your self its really simple. Unless they are offering to do that for free.
i called several dealers and none of them have any parts info on the 2002 yet!

but the price of the 01 tailights were 210 a peice (very nice)

If anyone knows of a dealership that can get the parts, PLEASE let me know!! i will order right away!

Doea nayone have a pic of the 02 tailights again!! thanks

Mike
correct me if i am wrong - but i don't think it comes with black housing - it is TINTED from what i haer - as in the outside glass is tinted and the inside is still chrome
Actually, this brings up new point to consider:

Since the taillights were changed this year, you can conclude that eventually most of the IS300s will have dark taillights (I'm talking after another year or two has passed).

At that point, is it more "original" to have the clear lights? (After 1-2 years... IS300s with clear lights will be in the minority, rather than the majority).

More unique among the IS300 maybe, but they are everywhere on Hondas and other rice rockets. That's why they are not desirable. I bet the smoked ones will be the new trend and a few years from now everyone will have them.

Nope ....saw them this morning, they are a dark gray plastic inside the and clear outside casing......in otherwords, there are chrome and smoked (dark gray).
The new IS tail-lights have a black background (where the 01's is shiny silver). The lens is still clear. Here's a pic. http://www.insidelexus.com/vol5/IS300/index.shtml
If Lexus is only charging $210+ for tail-light units, then swapping might be worth it. I agree with "M__CIN09", the fact that "mirrored-clear-lens tail-lights" are now after-market "must haves" for all Integras, Accords, and Civics, they just don't look as good as they did originally on the IS.

but if u look at these aftermarket tails - the black housing ones - they look nothing like the ones ua re talking about - these are ACTUALLY black rather then chromy/gray
