C320/33xi vs. IS300

First off, has anyone ever SEEN a BMW 330xi, not a normal 330i, but an xi. My friend is debating between a 330xi (if its even available?) and a C320. Also, has anyone ever raced either of these 2 cars? The C320 seems good competition.

Yes the 330Xi exists. The 0-60 times for each car should be about the same. The 300 might be slightly faster with a stick (with a good driver). Road course, the 330 would probably have a slight edge over the IS with the C320 coming in last.

Price wise, the IS wins hands down.

what??? AWD are GREAT for 0-60. no way an is300 can beat a 330xi to 60.

I don't have a clue why people would buy the 330Xi, what do you need AWD for anyway? You still need snow tires if it's for winter, and a BMW doesn't have enough clearance for deep snow anyway, nor an Audi. Nobody has trouble in the rain with RWD or FWD, so basically the AWD is a waste of weight and money. Nobody buys it in Europe, most Audis are FWD in Europe as well. If you want a winter car, get a subaru. If you want performance, get RWD, or an S4, which has enough power to take advantage of AWD for performance.

Dude, do u know what you are talking about??AWD a waist of weight and money? You obviously don't know much about cars and performance. For your information, AWD helps a GREAT deal in adverse weather conditions, simply because there is more traction. SImple math.....BTW performance wise, It's the driver that makes the car shine. I've seen FWD, RWD and AWD all take home trophies from the likes of British touring car and Japanese touring car.BTW if you suggest a Subaru for winter driving then you have just shot urself in the foot as Subarus are AWD......

I think everyone and their grandmother knows that all Subaru's are AWD, that's what they are renown for.

ckolsen is just pointing out the fact that although some BMW's and Audi's may have AWD, they don't have enough ground clearance for deep snow, whereas most Subaru's do. Thus if one needs a car for snow, a Subaru would be a better choise than a BMW or Audi.

Subarus are AWD? I didn't know that . . scratch, scratch (my head). Well duh.

Crontab made my point about that already, thanks Crontab.
My point about the BMW is if you can buy a lighter cheaper RWD version, why buy the Xi? The rear-driven version will be a much better performer, and with snow tires is great in snow. Sure it won't handle deep snow, but neither can a 330Xi or an Audi.
Who needs AWD for all weather performance - unless you're at a track event when it rains, otherwise it's a waste.

Accdg to the rumor mills, MB has a 4Matic version planned for the C-Class (as well as the rest of the lineup.. incl S-Class). Although like BMW (correct me if I'm wrong) they'll be directed towards safety, not performance like Audi or Subaru.

I agree with ckolsen regarding the 330xi. Unless you really need AWD because of bad weather where you live, the 330i is a better choice. Also, you'll get better gas mileage with the RWD 330i. Lastly, I've heard that the xi sport package isn't all that great compared to BMW's sport package for the RWD 3ers.

I disagree 330CI I had one the difference between the 330XI and CI are noticable.....the AWD is a better option IMO... but what do I know..I traded in for a IS300
