so, i check the price of buying a IS300 in the US is around 43K cdn (not including any tax, insurance) so anyone know what kind of tax i need to pay to bring the car up to canada??
or is it just better off buying it up there?
thanx
Base price in Canada just over CAN$40K.
Base price in US at US$31K ~CAN$46K.
One I priced with options at CAN$46K.
Similarly optioned in US at CAN$51K.
In Ontario, this goes out the door at $55.5K.
If you import, you'll at least have to pay GST. The total will be $54.5K. No idea what other custom/tax you'll have to add.
I know it doesnt cost a penny to go from canada to US... I have done it several times ... all you need to do is apply for a new title in the states($20) I dont know what Canada charges you? I dont think you should have to pay a dime. just re register the vehicle. you will obviously have to pay whatever U.S. taxes. (city, state, fed) whatever applies.
Importing a car into Canada from the US?? There's duty (I think), PST, and GST. Therefore, there's no way you can get away with those items.....Since you're paying the taxes anyway, might as well get it in Canada.
Why don't you buy it from Alberta? You save 10% PST there! I really want to get one from Alberta but I am not sure if it's actually possible/practical??
