Well, with my recent warranty work done on my transmission, I
decided to weigh out some warranty options. I bought my car
from a non Lexus dealer so I wasn't offered an extended warranty
plan...

Since I'm almost done my powertrain/major component is there any
way of extending it from Lexus? If so does anyone know the cost...

When I bought my car i think the extended warranty was 2700 for the top of the line extension. that was 6yr/120k i believe.

boman - sorry for the delayed response. just going through some threads now. not sure if you've already solved this...

i had looked at an is300 sportcross from a non-lexus dealer before buying mine. i called brampton lexus and they informed me that they would do extended warranty IF i got the car certified through them (a couple hundred bucks i think) AND the car had to be under 70k or 80k kms...i can't remember which. if it's above that mileage, then i don't think they will do it.

the previous post is about right in terms of pricing - somewhere around $3000 for a few extra years.

Hmmm, thanks for the heads up man! I decided just to let my
warranty expire and deal with whatever comes up... I'm pondering
the idea of boosting the car with a turbo kit so warranty wont be
necessary anyway.

3K for extended warranty is INSANE...lol, at Honda we sell them for
like $700!! or $1600 for the HUGE one.

Replaced the unit for a brand new one..no questions asked. Fourth
gear syncro was faulty so Lexus bought me a new transmission. The
symptom was I couldn't downshift from 5th to 4th and apparently
Lexus doesn't rebuild transmissions; they replace them.

I saw the bill and DAMN!! ...lol

I say forget about the extended warranty. I'm just over 78k and wouldn't dream of extending the warranty. I'm very confident in the IS as a whole. Except that damn tranny.
