Does any one know what type of plastic the bumper covers are made of? My wife (the dear) somehow managed to back up into the car wash - quite literally :frustrate .

I have some gouges in the bumper down to the plastic and would like to attempt to repair them myself. I have quite a bit of shade tree paint and body experience. I don't know if these are the kind of plastic that uses a wax mold release or not.

Any advice will be appreciated. And, yes I know, I could just claim it on insurance and get a new one...

I was talking to my body shop guy about this a few weeks back. 3M makes one. the hard thing is that you cannot use just any plastic bonding or filling if you are wanting to paint on it. my body shop guy showed me a bumper that some other shop used a plastic filler and the paint bubbled at that spot but it took about a month to show. i would either go to a body shop or a body paint supply store and ask what they reconmend.
