I was wondering which exhuast makes the IS300 sound nice like kind of euro like say m3 with dinan exhuast type of sound not like rice sounding. I was thinking the rod millen exhuast becuase it doesn't look too extreme. Which ones do you guys recommend?
As said in many previous posts, the IS will almost never sound like rice since its not a 4 cylinder. Exhausts will just be louder or softer than others but not that fart can sound.
For the sound you are looking for, I can tell you that the Blitz, L-Tuned, and L-Sportline may be too quiet. Perhaps the HKS Dragger and one of the Tanabe systems may be one possibility for you. I'll let others chime in for their opinion.
i was all about l-tuned till i saw the $$ im all about the noticable exhaust, but not that buzzing rice noise. from doin a search i think the happy medium was the hks Dragger II so thats what im goin for
I have a HKS Hiper exhaust installed. The rest of my car is completely stock (performance-wise). I don't here the similarity, but I've had numerous bimmer-head friends of mine tell me that my car sound like an M3 or a 330i.
The Hiper, when it's left as an axle-back (don't add a header/race pipe or b-pipe), is a very mellow sounding exhaust. Is gives off a low grumble at lower RPMs and the sound dissapates (sp?) to almost stock volumes after 4000RPM. Some people dislike the "drone" the Hiper gives off in fifth gear at freeway (60-80mph) speeds. I can't offer insight on this, my car is dynamatted all to hell, and on the freeway, with my windows up; I can't hear shit.
Well the JIC exhaust tend to sound very American like a Mustang and they are the only exhaust I have heard that lopes at idle, I think they might have some kind of association to the American exhaust company Bullitt because all there exhausts say Bullitt some where on the canister or tip.
