Best Performance Upgrades on a Budget

Hello everyone! I just recently purchased a new IS 300, and I would like to know what are the best performance upgrades for less than a $1000. Well if you wanna push it from $1000-2000 dollars.

Go cold air intake(AEM), Greddy makes a good exhaust, headers, lower the car, get some new shocks(coilovers would run around 1500), upper tower bar, front and rear lower struts, and rear sway bar that should run you close to 2K if not a little bit over. thats like the basic bolt on stuff and improved suspension mods
I doubt AEM will offer an intake. Make your own. Bore out your TB, port match your manifold. Maybe a suspension upgrade and change pads and fluid. That's a good start. Since the cats are on the headers, you can't change without losing smog compliability. I doubt an exhaust will do much but they sure sound nice. Maybe cam gears and an Apexi S-AFC to retune fuel might be good. I need an IS to work on. Anyone in the Detroit area want to volunteer?

God:

Will the supra stuff fit on the IS? like cams, underdrive pullies? Stuff like that? I'm not thinking like intake or headers...just the little stuff that allows you to tune the engine
Pulleys should be interchangable. Not sure on the cam gears since you have VVTi on the IS. Anyone have any ideas?

I know the 98 Supra came with the vvti system. I wonder if those wil work?
If they fit non-turbo Supra VVTi than they should also fit IS as well. Anyone want to find out from HKS?

hmmm....maybe after i get my IS i will go experimenting with the N/A supra parts. I will let you guys know how it turns out...but it might take a while for me to get the IS first. The way things are going I'm probably going to have my rims before the car.
I would say that the best bang for the buck comes from:

1. a performance air filter. even a K&N would probably give you a few extra ponies.

2. a front upper strut bar. this is probably the best bang for the buck.

- the car feels more solid.
- steering is more accurate
- your suspension works better
- you can corner faster
- you can brake in shorter distances
- and, it's easy to install yourself

Dan, I am in the Chicago area and do not plan on driving my IS in the winter. If you can store my car and let me know how much $ you'll need to work on it maybe we can work something out!!
I can have something custom done for you if you like. I can make custom exhausts, and can make custom intake systems to your specifications if you like (using Apexi, Blitz, or K&N filters). Just let me know what you want. I can even dyno it if you like.
