What are you trying to do? A second battery can be added easily. Do you want a dedicated second battery that is only used for the whole audio system including headunit, etc?

I was thinking about using it to power the two amps I have for my system because I can get a couple of batteries for free.

I use a second batt in the trunk to run the audio, so if I am parked and the music is on, it wont drain the main batt, and my car will always have enough power to crank over.

So the lead off the alternator goes to both batts, and they both charge when car is running, but if the engine is off, there is a solenoid ( i think ) that routes the power off the trunk batt.
