Are you guys content with the features/ameneties available on the IS300 or do you wish they could offer more. If you go to the "competitive comparisons" section at www.lexus.com it seems that the IS300 is lacking in comparision to the BMW 330i and Audi A4 2.8 as far as features and available equipment... Or do you think those features are just gimmicks that you could easily live without...?

I really wanted memory seats + lumbar, auto dimming mirrors and all auto up/down windows. I slammed lexus customer service on those items. I might trade my is300 in for a 2002. Too early to tell.

I thought that the IS300 had the same "all auto up/down windows" system that's in the GS models...

Auto-dimming mirrors tops my list.

You'll probably get near unanimous approval for the seat memory and full auto windows Watcher mentioned (although, Watcher, considering your buying patterns your "slam" may not have concerned Lexus too much!). I was originally disappointed not to see full leather seats, but now I'm not so sure.

I sure was pissed to see LSD only available with the full lux package, and basically unavailable in So. Cal.

And something really small, but on the RX the moonroof is controlled by just one rocker switch for both tilt and roll, open and close, auto and manual/partial. So you don't need two switches like in the IS. I like just one. My wife would prefer two, so I guess this one is not a clear choice.

one thing i really don't like about my cl-s is that it takes three (yes, three) switches to control the moonroof -- one for vent, another for retract, and a third for close. c'mon -- there are better ways.

My sister's A4 2.8 Quattro has split folding down rear seat and she told me that it's very useful when she has long or large items to carry... Do you guys miss that feature?

some of the little things I saw in a 330ci which i testdrove that I wish were in the IS 300.

- Controls for the and cruise control on the steering wheel.
- I'd like the LCDs to show current mpg and miles left in my tank, etc...

When i first test drove the IS, i wasn't pleased with the escaine stuff. Now I love it! The car doesn't get as hot inside as another car with black leather interior.

Yep... The GS430 has stereo controls on the steering wheel.. I'm sure the LS430 does as well...

I like the options that they have included, but I would make the following changes:

1> Want a factory NAV system (but one is coming soon - but too late for me).
2> Want Mercedes-style turn signals in the mirrors for safety reasons.
3> Want "curtain airbags" for side impact head protection.
4> Want a passenger side mirror that points down when in reverse (gotta protect those graphite wheels on 45 series tires when parallel parking)

I don't care about auto-up passenger windows, auto-dimming mirrors, memory seats or any of that.

I wish the IS300 could have a switch to turn traction control off all the time (not just a reset after you start the car).

I wish the IS300 had a switch to turn off the heated power mirrors... (why waste the fuel to make electricity to heat the mirrors in summer?!)

I wish the IS300 eShift could manually go into 1st gear.

I wish the IS300 eShift gear display would show the actual gear in use, not just the "highest numerically available gear".

What about a Supercharger!!!

I'm surprised that none of you guys wished for VSC.....
Eric...

Does the CL-s have stability control or just a basic traction control system...

Maybe this is a stupid suggestion, but here goes...It seems like some people want the TRAC off all the time. In a Supra, which has basically the same engine, there is a fuse. Pulling this fuse is called the TRAC mod, so u can go look at it on mkiv. It disables TRAC all the time, and the top speed limiter as well. If you wish to put it back, all you have to do is put the fuse back in. Also, turning off the TRAC w/ the ****pit (wait the forum censors that word - it says c-o-c-k-p-i-t) switch the TRAC can still come into play. I don't know how or why, but that is what I read. Of course, this applies to Supras, not the IS3 for sure. But since the engine is similar (if not the same) why doesn't someone look and check it out? Just a suggestion ppl...

I don't own my IS3 yet but hoping that sense of perspective will get me past some of the so called flaws of the car. Now i know that when purchasing a any car it's definitly a good idea to shop around and get the most crap with your purchase at the least possible price, but i think that when comparing or even looking back on your purchase everybody should keep some perspective. Otherwise you'll just end up loosing that love affair we all have with new cars, at least until they turn old.
For example:

One touch Up/Down on all four windows: The only thing i love about one touch drivers windows is that i can open and close the window while reducing the amount of time you take your hand off the wheel. And generally this feature can be annoying when all you want to do is open the window a crack. So ask yourself if your passengers who aren't driving need this feature.

Memory seats + lumbar: Some may enjoy this feature, but for me i don't need it. I don't even want power seats. What is the point in spending a grand on an option that allows you to move the seat easier, and at least for me not touch it ever again. I'm the only person driving my car so i don't care if i have power and memory seats.

Auto-dimming mirrors: From what i hear they don't really do anything. Although this is a feature i would enjoy if they worked at the level that their supposed to.

Basically my point is that many of these features are great and definitly add to the cars we buy, but when it comes down to the final point they are fairly trivial compared to all the features that you do get with such a car. I would have been more pissed if the IS300 didn't include the CD changer or HID lights as standard equipment. All i can say is that i hope nobody out there is letting the absence of some of these feature change the overall positive feel that you should have for a car like this.
