Are you talking about a radar detector?
I'm not sure most people on this site know what a Valentine One is.

Anyhow, I don't see the use. Detectors don't really work that well to begin with. What if the cop is on the side of the road with his radar pointed forward, by the time your detects him, he's already got you...

What if you're going over a hill and he's on the other side...

What if you're taking a turn and he's on the inside of the turn...

Just look for brake lights on other cars, I only have 1 ticket and I don't drive slow.

Hardwiring that is kinda ridulous to me. Lexus has a radar system that is seriously "Hard Wired".

The indicator goes into your dash. The sensors are mounted front and back behind the plates.

Radar waves get reflected off of other objects (cars, hills, overpasses) so a good detector will save you whether or not the cop is directly in your line of sight. Also, radar guns CAN'T determine your speed from the side. It has to get you from the front or behind.

I learned the value of my ValentineOne when I failed to reinstall it in my new car. I got my first speeding ticket in years.

I realize that, but if the radar is bouncing off cars, chances are those cars will be braking because they see the speed trap.

Laser does not work the same way however, and is more of direct wave. It won't bounce as much.

Another thing that may not work so well is that cops use a "instant on" technique where they do not radar or laser you until they choose to. That way, your detector is useless.

The only time I ever got a speeding ticket was when they were specifically looking for my licence plate on a specific highway at a particular time...

but we won't talk about that...
I'm sensitive.

Otherwise, I haven't gotten a ticket because brake lights of other cars always tell me where the speed trap is.

I am in the middle of installing my V1 also. I decided to runthe power/signal cord up the A-pillar (just pulled the trim back slightly and pushed it in). I haven't decided where to mount the V1 itself, so I haven't completed the install. Right now it comes down the pillar, behind the dash and out beside the center console. I then plug it into the power outlet. Once I decide for sure where I want to put the V1 itself (any suggestions out there - right now it is on the far left side of the drivers visor and seems to pick up prety well - I would prefer a more central location but haven't figured out how to mount without using the suction cups).

Once I have the V1 and remote display locations determined, I plan on mounting the power unit in the center dash and tap the power off the cigar lighter/power outlet because it is a switched source. I took a look at trying to get inside there, but haven't figured out the trick yet. Does anyone have access to manuals for the IS yet?
