There will be more track rentals I'm sure and I will post up dates and times, I usually don't bother on this forum b/c most don't drag there car..

Thanks. Yeah, please let me know if you do another MIR rental. I need
to get mine to Ray to get the lsd installed before a major track day. I
will call him this week. I go to some of Ranger's MIR rentals(Corvette board)
but have not taken the IS there. I need Ray to see if he can fix the 2-3
shift tapping the rev limiter. I can do a quick lift before the shift but a
solid 2-3 shift would save a couple tenths.
Yeah, the new Vettes(at least the Z06) seem prone to wheel-hop on
a cold track. I watched 3 lose axles/rears at last years corvette meet
at Richmond Dragway. Not pretty. Brutal cars though.

See if ray has a 3.72 gear in the shop (5spd manual lsd) as I have always preached this should be a better gear for the turbo auto's..Its pretty much the same gear as the auto supra TT as you already know..There was a member on here from ny with a black turbo auto and got a better et and mph just swapping the rears, can't remember his sn..

will be a relief to see another turbo IS at the tracks, I would hate to be the only one tracking the car in the area this year..

Yes, he has a manual 3.72 pinion, but will that be overkill with my
245/45/17 tires? They are 4.75% taller than stock. If I have enough
torque to pull higher gearing I would like to. I went to 28" tall drag
radials on my last Supra and dropped my 60' from a 1.62 to a 1.49
and the 330' really dropped.
Thanks

Your tires are not very tall at 25.7", so the extra gear will help a bit..Not a big difference by any means but every bit helps, figured if your gonna do it might as well get the 3.72.. I have a 27" tall street tire on my car now 285/40/18, but probably gonna sell my SSR comp wheels/tires and get some 17's to run some 275 nitto 555r's

Thanks for the info. Try the M+H 275/50/17 instead of the Nitto 275/40/17's.
The Nitto is the tire I was getting low 1.6 sixty's with and the M+H took me
about .10 lower on average. The 28" M+H vs. the 26" Nitto gave me a long
pull. I wasn't running your power level(only 530rwhp) but the taller tire
really helped. BASupra has run that M+H on his IS300. They suck in the
rain compared to the Nitto though. I think I'll take your advice on the 3.72
rear.
Thanks

I would run the M&H but the tires wear down much faster, I have friends that have gotten over 10k miles on the nitto's for daily..I won't be running DR's at the track just slicks..

That would make more sense then. Yeah, the Nitto's are good for about
8-10,000 miles even with some track passes. I've gone through 8 sets
of the 275/40/17's and they worked well for 24/7 traction. Be careful of
wheel hop though.
Hope to see you at the track!
