Well today the snow is coming down in Chicago. Alittle freezing rain too. I noticed the IS sucks a$$ in the snow. I have the 17s and just barely tapping the gas the car gets sideways. Thank God for the good brakes though.
And to those of you that say never to take your car to the automatic wash and to do it yourself. Your f*ckin crazy. I would like to see someone washing there IS in 0 degree weather. Maybe the people who said that live in Cali or something, but in the Midwest winters, washing your car outside is not an option i'd like....

Hey there, I have already driven in the snow.. with 17" good year stock tires. Infact, I just did a 45 degree fakey this morning. I was going down hill at around 40mph and tried to slow/turn left into the university driveway. my car slid forward passed the driveway for quite a distance. had to turn back onto the road and turn back around at a gas station.

no other dealer in the area does this...thats why i bought mine there

The reason you are having problems in the snow is because the 17"'s are summer tires. They are not all season. They require heat for them to perform properly. In the cold they are just like hockey pucks. Some will claim that they can make it thru the winter with 17" but its a risk you much decide to take. If it were me, I would protect my 30K investment and get some winter tires or else you'll end up in the ditch like others.

Jeez... sliding around in the snow sounds kinda scary.. What you guys need is VSC, I've driven my GS400 around in snow with VSC on and it works wonders...wish they offered that on the IS3 the first year, along with the manual and nav but guess i'll be waitin another 10 months for that.... :-(

I said this before and I will say it again.
Buying a car is NOT an investment.

Nextsean....I totally agree with you.

Although I wanna keep my IS for life, nothing lasts forever, preferences and priorities change...and sooner or later we end up selling the car.

I'm still going to go berzerk over the mods on my car but have this itchy feeling that it is not a wise investment...nevertheless, I'm a car enthusiast and cant help but play.

I plan to leave the car parked IF it snows. It's got the 17" tires and I don't plan to get all-season ones until I wear these out. (I've no place to store a second set of tires.) Most of the people up here don't know how to drive on snow anyway. It's possible I could muddle through, but why risk my vehicle with the crazies out there? Anyway, the bus comes to my driveway...and the snow usually lasts only a couple of days.

WEll I have been out in the snow. I put a set of Racing Hearts and pirelli Asimmetrico 17" snow tires on. They are great after 500 miles. I went to a parking lot in cleveland that was snow covered and just tested the car out. It handles great unless you really try to break it free..

That was the only ding against the IS vs the Audi when I was looking at them...Quattro is a nice capability.

Here is a tip...move somewhere that doesn't have snow.

Sure it is more expensive in CA compared to everywhere else, but you generally have a higher income here and if your company eats $hit you can get another job almost instantly....mild winters kick a$$

Let me guess, Bredemann Lexus in Glennview? That's a VERY sweet deal. How backed up are they on Satudays?

Just curious who you dealt with and what kind of price they worked out. The latest offer I've been able to get there is about 2-grand off of msrp.

You got it...bredeman lexus. Very good dealership.

Well the car wash goes intill 3:00pm and the buffet only goes intill 12:00 so if you get there before 10:30 for breakfast it'll only take about 1/2 hour till your car is done. or you can came after 12:00pm and you wont have to wait that long. (most ppl come for the buffet, very good food..no cereal crap)

they have around 20-30 guys washing cars so it goes fast.

Yeah i was only able to get 2000MSRP off the price.

which is still better than what some ppl are getting..

Definatly get from bredeman if you can..very polite, and professional
