hey everyone,

i was curious to see if any of you are buying an aftermarket alarm system for better protection, remote start, roll up windows, or just better shock protection.

i was thinking about it cause this car does catch a lot of attention, maybe too much attention somtimes you know

if any of you are what alarms are you buying?

any info is helpful

I was thinking about it however, I do not have good experiences with aftermarket alarms. I personally don't like how they always go off...pull the door handle, walk by the car...whatever.

I also have friends that have electrical problems associated with aftermarket alarms. There are a lot of particulars that people don't understand about the electronic system in these cars. They just plop the system in and charge you money.

I don't know.
If you hear of a reliable system, do tell.

So how is the stock alarm? I asked the dealer to disable the horn from the alarm, but have been seriously considering buying an aftermarket. The Lexus dealer told me that if you put in an aftermarket alarm, you won't have that "engine disable" feature. Sounds a little strange, doesn't it?

i like the alarm in Robocop. It lets the thief get into the seat than it locks him in and shocks him until the flesh from his head is gone and he is nothing but a skeleton, but seriously i think the stock one is good enough for me

The Clifford Concept 400 is a very good system, and it is based on the G4 technology they have. One thing is that you will want to install this in an authorized dealer. When I had my Eclipse, I first had an aftermarket shop install the clifford concept 40 (older generation) system for me and it was just a nightmare, it was going off like crazy, killing the battery and etc. I later on took it to an authorized dealer and have them install a brand new concept 40 system, and the alarm worked perfect after that. Just an example that installer can make a big difference too.

MAmornIS, our car alarm kinda does that, minus the shocking part.

If you sit in the car and lock the car with the key, you won't be able to get out unless you unlock the car with the key. As soon as you touch the door, the alarm goes off, and you won't be able to get out...

There is a shocker thing...it attaches to your steering wheel and sends a massive shock to anyone who tries to touch the steering wheel.

No joke. I saw it at a car show. It sounds like those bug zappers that people have in their back yard...

14 years ago my friends and I became chummy with an owner of a 930 slantnose who claimed to have this feature. He said it was activated/deactivated somehow through the windshield wipers. However, this feature was only through the door handle. None of us decided to try and test this system ourselves. Who knows?
