Antennae and car cover

I will be picking up my IS and will have to park it outdoors UNFORTUNATELY. Does anyone know if Lexus makes a specialized car cover for the IS that go over the antennae. I'm afraid of harming it. Thanks.

the antenna can just screw right off easily. you can take it off and put it back on fairly quickly...if not, then cut a small hole in the car cover for it...

When you say "screw" off, do you mean like with a screwdriver or something easier? I think it would be a big incovenience to unscrew the antennae everyday.
the antenna just unscrews, try it, twist it off... im looking for a car cover too but i doubt i would buy a Lexus one, do a search on car covers and you'll get some good recommendations...
you can just turn it by hand. kinda sucks when you think about it tho...anyone can come over and jack your antenna. hmm...maybe i should go over to the dealership and stock up on antenna's. anyone know of a dealership with a lot if IS300's in stock??? just kidding...

talk about ppl stealing emblems from more expensive models to make their basic edition look better, what reason would you want antennas? lemme guess, you bought an early IS and want it to look like the later ones with the different antenna?
(note: only those who've read a certain post in the owners forum would get this lame comment
)
maybe you could screw a spoiler in the antenna hole, you know, cars with fifty spoilers are all the rage

i dunno, i havent confirmed it yet but that guy seems to observed a few minor differences...
I bought a cover. The dealer quoted me at $219 but I bought it at www.lexuspartsmall.com at discount for like $180 or something. You screw off the antenna. Very easy.
Get the cover, mark where the hole should be and how big around you need it. Then find someone who knows how to do a hand-done button hole....or hire someone at a sail-making shop. Either one can make a very neatly tailored hole for the aerial...you just use a bigger needle and heavy-duty nylon thread.
I bought a custom car cover from www.carbytes.com. It was about 190.00. It has pockets for the antenna and the mirrors. It's a perfect fit. I'm very happy with it. Check them out.

what kind of cover? brand? type(s) of fabric? how many layers?
just ordered a car cover from carcover4u.com for $154.41 including tax and shipping. evolution 4, will let you know how it works out. also placed and order for finishfirst and will let you know how it works out too.

side note: i did a search on "Car Covers" thats how i finally decided to buy, weird thing is, when i did the search i came across at least four (4) topics that were attributed to me but i wasn't the original author of the thread....when i opened the thread it stated who the author was.

You dont want to poke the antenna through a hole. Cutting a hole would allow moisture to get in under the cover and thats not good.

when i bought it 2 months ago, they only had the Ultralon available as a custom cover for the IS. They may have better covers now.....

Ultralon Custom-Fit Covers

A unique, lightweight fabric, constructed from three different materials chosen for their superior performance characteristics:

Polyester knit outer shell: Naturally resistant to UV degradation and treated with special stabilizers for added protection.

Fibers do not absorb moisture and the fabric resists snow, rain, pollutants, bird droppings and acid rain while maintaining "breathability" to allow condensation and moisture under the cover to evaporate.

Acrylic foam middle layer: Serves as a barrier against dust and moisture while keeping the cover soft and flexible.

Flocked inner layer: Provides a soft "touch" to protect the vehicle's finish.

"Storm Resistant Rating" - Per Federal Test Standards, the fabric allows less than 1 gram of water penetration using a shower head mounted 3 feet from the fabric spraying water for five minutes.

"Breathable" - Moisture or condensation under the fabric can easily vaporize and evaporate.

Easy to Use - Lightweight fabric is compact for easy storage and daily use.
