Does anyone know if this tire would fit? I know it's oversized for that wheel a little, but would it look/fit ok?

i think i would go to a 275/35 - that woudl put it at about a 215/45 for sidwall height - i think the 275/40 woudl be a monster looking sidewall.

it will fit on the rim

as for it being the right offset i am not sure

x7.5 = 42 and up 215-235
x8 = 43 and up 215-235
x8.5 = 45 and up 215-225

rear
x7 = 40 and up 215-225
x7.5 = 40 and up 215-235

x8.5 = 45 and up 225-265 (255-265 requires rolling or shaving lip)
x9 = 49 and up 235-275 (MAY require rolling or shaving lip)
x9.5 = 52 and up 245-285 (MAY require rolling or shaving lip, 285 may require more modification)

me too, but I think it looks goofy. If money were no object, I'd have my entire trunk/rear end reworked so I could go deeper towards the car, not outwards.....

^^285 would work on those :>) 275's look good, I've seen them personally......the 285's, I dunno how'd they look. I run 265's on my 19x9's and they look great........
