My wifes friend had her RX 300 in for the free wash at JM Lexus in S. Florida. While there someone at the dealership backed into it causing enough damage to need to go to the body shop. They gave here a loaner for a few days. I came in and hear my wife talking to this woman how much fun the IS is to drive and such. After she gets off the phone I ask her - "What did JM give her an IS?". So she says yes and how much she likes driving it. I then asked her what color she got and my wife says "GOLD"! Now I believe thats a new color for 2002. Check your dealers they may be here or coming.

ok, why would any dealer give someone a brand new IS300 to drive for a loaner car?
Hard to believe, but true?
"Here, depreciate this premium brand new model that we could sell for lots of money."
I went to Pembroke Pines Lexus to see about trading my 2001 in for a 2002 Manual. They didn't have any over there and my salesman said they don't expect any until September. Oh, by the way they offered me $28,000 for mine with 4,000 miles, I will lose way too much money. Looks like I won't have a 2002 manual anytime soon

That makes no sense - why would a dealer give a spanking new 2002 model as a loaner?
Dealer gave us a brand new RX300 when we had problem with our RX300 2 years ago. We know it was a new car because it barely had any miles on it, and the paperwork was in the car. Pretty neat we thought, and this is one of the reason we have 3 lexus now.
BTW, they delivered this loaner car, and my house is 35 miles from the dealer.
We actually feel kind of bad for the dealer, since the problem was nothing but a wind noise from the rear spoiler.
My wife's friend has 2 Lexus vehicles, and this is the biggest Lexus dealer in the world. She also has two son's who are of driving age, maybe they're trying to push a sale.

my IS is officially the 4th lexus in our family, and then my mom got the 2001 rx300 being the 5th lexus we've owned, from cherry hill lexus of new jersey...we know the people there really well and this is what i know. they usually keep one of the newest es300's rx300's gs300's and now is300's for themselves. they use those to primarily demo and what not. after 3 months they sell it as a used car without ever being officially titeled for cheap. the owner or my dealership is about 40 yrs old and a young guy. the sales peeps said that he wants to keep a manual is300 for a lil while, and when the time comes to sell it, they'll give us a ring.

that's the truth too, so i believe it man! gold sounds cool!

Well, van damn. That's quite a hoot.

Lexus thinks I have three Lexus' now. My IS, the ES that I had for four months prior to the IS and the new ES that my parents just bought. Apparently, Lexus has my name (mistakenly or still) as owner of all three.
So that should qualify me as a new car loaner type person, huh?

If you read in the news section of Lexus.com you will see that there is no price change for 2002 IS and ES 300s. The MSRP remains the same as well as the handling/delivery fee. I do not beleive that a "slightly firmer" suspension will yeild a higher price tag than the automatic. But who knows??

Do you mean this "On average, the overall price increase for the Lexus line-up is 0.2 percent, or $79 over initial 2001-model pricing. The price changes for the GS 300/430, RX 300 and LX 470 will be effective on May 1, while the LS 430 price change will be effective on June 1.

Option prices on all models, MSRP for the 2001 IS 300 sport sedan and ES 300 entry-level luxury sedan and the delivery, processing and handling fee of $545 remain unchanged."

Because that is misleading but does only refer to the 2001 models. It was a change to delivery pricing and such on 2001's only. Or is there something somewhere else I missed???
Yeah your right, I didnt even realize they were talking about the 01's only wooops!!
Thanks for pointing that out man.

I live near JM Lexus, and went to investigate the gold IS. There isn't one. Your friend probably got a GS300 in gold. (had that as a loaner before) I did see 2 Solar Yellow IS300's on the lot 2001. I'm waiting to drive the SportCross.
