Yes, the GS400 will become the GS430 (and 310 hp).

I wouldn't count on any V8 variant of the IS because the engine bay is so tiny (among other things); the I6 barely fits...

Correction:

The 2001 GS430 will have the SAME hp (300) and an increase of 15 lbs of torque (from 310 to 325). The biggest gripe of the GS430 is that it no longer has e-shift (like the IS300) for emissions reasons. However, the 2001 GS300 now has e-shift.

No idea about the LS430, the LS400 had 290 hp in 2000 and they will still probably keep it less than the GS430's HP cuz the GS series is the "sportier" luxury sedan on the Lexus Lineup.

Hmm...I had heard that it was 310 hp from a reputable source. Oh well, I guess we'll see what happens...

If the new 4.3 liter engine is hardly producing any more HP/torque, are there other advantages for switching engines? I just assumed it would be proportionally more powerful...

Lexus has a GS430 advertisement in the latest Fortune magazine. The catch phrase is "a little faster off the line". They mention how torque is increased from 310ft/lbs at 4,000RPM to 325ft/lbs at 3,400RPM. Does anyone know how much this will improve the 0-60 time?
