My headlights would come on fine, but after a while the passenger side would shut off so I would turn the switch on/off and it would just come back on. I would keep doing this for a little bit, but you could see how this can get annoying. Now, when my brother own the car he replace the ballast thinking it was the problem and it was not. He also try changing the bulb and the problem persist. Now that I own the car and this is annoying for me, now I have some background as a technician and I am leaning towards checking the headlights rela, however, I need tyo know where is located to check it.

If anyone had has this problem before I would appreciate the help, or any other help I could get. Thanks.

:suspiciou. Already replace all the connectors for both headlamps so I doubt that it would be the problem. But this weekend I would be replacing the relay and hopefully that would be the answer.

Well I have'nt replace the relay, however, one of my friends with the same problem took his car to some lexus specialist and charged him $40.00 bucks and fixed the problems. Hopefully, I can communicate with him this week and see what was the problem. I'll keep you guys posted.

This may not be related to the problem but there TSB on moisture in the headlights. TSB BO002-01 it says to put a piece of special clear "tape" over a hole over the headlights. If you don't see this tape on your car you should put some on. The part number is:
90950-06073 you will need 2 and they are about $2.33 each from Toyota.

Yea I was just about to post that it is the bulbs. The HID lights have gas in them and after a while it can leak out or become neutal and hard to ignite the bulb. The Lexus Ballasts are pretty robust so i suggest always swapping the driver and passenger bulb to make sure its not the bulb before you go and replace a ballast. We had this happen plenty of times at my dealer. Sometimes the bulb works for 1 week then does that goofy stuff, then works for another month.

When you are new to the site and have technical questions, the best place is the roadside assistance forum. it may be possible you blew a fuse. Check the 7.5A PANEL fuse in the kick panels for the dash lighting. Check the low beam fuses in the main relay/fuse box by the battery. I don't see how the remote starter installation would involve those circuits tho.

It sounds like you have multiple complexities. I would try to retrace your steps and see what wiring is crossed or shorted. Post the instructions up here if you want and I will tell you where each wire should go(providing you did the install yourself, if not, then I would take it to the installer. BTW if your headlights are off and you turn the high beams on, the lows come on too, so at least we know its a control problem.

Similar problem....

I have a problem with 2001 Lexus IS300, I had rain get into the ballast on the passenger's side (cap came loose and water got in). I had the ballast replaced (which was full of water). Shorlty after replacing that and replacing both HID bullbs, both low beam's stay on for about 30 seconds each when driving. I flick the lights on and off, and they come on for another 30 seconds or so, I can keep them on by turning from off to on over and over. The driver's side usually goes out first, then the passenger's side light follow within a second. The high beams work fine. Any thoughts?

I also have a 2001 Lexus is300 and I am going through the same issue. My running lights will stay on for about 30 seconds to a minute. And the high beams stay on so I can only use them or I have to keep turning the running lights on and off. Anyone have a solution maybe the ballast and bulbs?
