It's funny really....
The other night while going to dinner with my girlfriend, I parked next to a blue IS300. Right next to that car was a blue Honda Civic 4 door on rims and lowered.

Have you the owners realized yet how much your car looks like a hooked up Honda Civic??

It's no wonder Civic owners dream of having IS300's...it's perfect! It would be everything they ever wanted out of a Civic with leather and the good "classy" Lexus nameplate. It must also suck to see your tailights on the back of Honda's everywhere. 215 hp on an automatic transmission?? What a joke. $35,000 for a Civic, about as slow as one too. Great buy guys!

I test drove a 5 speed Volkswagon VR6 Golf once and when taking a turn I gunned it and the steering wheel jumped out of my hand... The VR6 has mad torque steer.....

Well Quik has a point, the car resembles a civic in almost every form on exterior appearance, and basically the same size as one. Whats the use of having a car so highly priced with little performance an actually be considered sporty. There's nothing sporty about an automatic. I give props on behalf of the handling and cluster but thats about it. In short and simple words , it's a civic with more hp but more dead weight. 35k for that car is a waste of cash, especially for a car being played out more than civics themselves. I'd rather go the extra mile and get a car worth getting like the GS-400, a luxury sedan which can spank up alot of other cars and is an auto but considered for luxury not sporty. The only responses here are based from uneducated kids who think people are being "hatas" as you guys think of it but the truth is you wasted your cash and hearing it just pisses you off. Trade that IS300 "sport" and waste that 35k on a more prestigous and higher calibar car like a BMW 330ci. Yes its a EURO , faster by far, and a much better car for the buy. Just my opinion. LAtez

(as if the previous E-mails are worth responding to)

Here is some logic behind my purchase behind an IS300. I test drove a BMW 328Ci, but have a lot of time spent commuting and need a RELIABLE yet entertaining car to drive... plus it needs to be automatic for that 1+ hours spent in traffic each way. The BMW automatic wasn't any faster (both in the 7.1-7.5 range) and they wanted 41K fully loaded. Plus the BMW is very expensive to mod. The Lexus seemed to have more driving personality (maybe a flaw) but I thought it was a lot of fun and it makes me grin every time I drive to work. Plus I already own an S2K for the weekends.. so this was a logical choice. The A4 = forgettable styling and are a dime a dozen on the roads, every soccer hauling mom has one. The IS300 is not a screamer when it comes to speed, but with some tuning and better tires it is a fun reliable and attractive package. It is a lot of car for only 34K. Plus when you haul two other people to work, a lot of torque and 4 doors are really nice. And after I have my supercharger installed within the month it should have the speed to match its looks.

Nah, no flames. I think people tend to get defensive when tell them that they made a stupid choice. I don't think non IS300 owners realize that WE KNOW that this isn't the perfect car. We have to keep telling ourselves that because we're paying out of our pockets for them... and isn't it nice if we get reaffirmed by others that we made a nice purchase? I remember a phemonenon in Marketing called uh... Post Purchase anxiety or something like that. Everyone gets that... take a step back and look at the overall landscape of the industry. What car in this price range is just junk? It should be a fairly hard decision. It's not like comparing a Daewoo to a Honda... ALL cars in the 30K+ range are nice. What person on this Earth wants to hear that what we're stuck with (well, not "stuck") is junk? I mean, I know this car looks like a Civc (I have one in my drive way next to my IS, and it also looks like a Jetta. But just because it looks like it, doesn't mean it is. The Daewoo Leganza looks like a GS, but it ain't. Anyways, if QuikVR6 just wanted to point something out, it's coo... I don't think the content was inappropriate, but the manner in which it was presented wasn't conductive to a nice discussion. Welcome to the board QuikVR6 and GSRsobe.

I think a lot of people really just want IS300 and can't get one. Like a ferrari, when I see a 550, it makes me envious as all hell, but I know I won't have one anytime soon. Only difference is that I don't end up on a ferrari forum ripping on owners for spending 250k.

Dude, I don't want an IS300.

This isn't an issue of envy because you bought an IS300.

I am a fanatic of german automobiles. Hence why I own a VW and why i'm saving my pennies for a Benz. I just like german luxury over anything Japanese made. I don't like when Lexus bills this car as superior over a BMW. They can't possibly believe that themselves.
And you as the consumer made a purchase based on the "coolness" factor. Because if anyone purchased this car from a performance standpoint they must be on serious narcotics.

once again, there are the owners who are satisfied iwth their purchase and have justified it...and the owners who know nothing about hwat they are talking about. really, if you bought an is300, just b ehappy about your purchase and stop arguing with the "trolls"

My real gripe lies when people buy up these Jap luxo cars and believe superior to real luxury automakers. Automakers like BMW and Mercedes that have only spent their entire automotive life dedicated to creating luxury cars...not companies like Toyota and Honda who slapped together lame luxury cars in order to bite into the german automakers. There is no heritage behind these cars..no real pride.

Thats your gripe?? Its time to let it GO

Let the numbers speak for themself; Lexus has higher customer loyalty, higher customer satisfaction, lower cost of ownership, equally high resale value, higher initial quality, and higher sales figures. Does all that make them better than M-B or BMW? Not necessarily. Those FACTS prove that the Lexus is more than capable of taking on the Germans for the title of #1 luxury carmaker.
