Even though the IS300 is new this year (I hope to buy one within the next month!), I was wondering if anyone has had any (bad) experiences with similar performance tires in the winter. My IS will be my year-round car, and I'd hate to give up 17" performance if its a nightmare in the winter.

you will go no where with those 17s in the snow. They are summer only performance tires. What most of us here are doing is buying the IS300 with the 17s then going out and buy seperate 16 inch rims and tires for winter use.

I'm still debating on what 16 inch rim to get for winter driving.

Any recommendations out there on 16" rim / tire combinations to keep my IS out of the ditches this winter? What 16's are offered as stock on the IS from Lexus? Has anyone seen what they look like?

New2IS,
that is a pretty good question to ask since most IS300er haven't thought of when they purchase their's. i had a pretty bad experience with 17' tires during the winter(that was a GS-R, fully hooked up), even with the fornt wheel drive won't go anywhere on heavy snow. anyway, despite, the snow thing, i still bought the IS300 since i really love this car! hopfully the traction control, and slip differential would help a little. if not have to purchase different tries and rims for the winter.
