Anyone here choose the 16" tire option?

If so, I like to know how the performance is. Is there a big dropoff in performance? I know it gives a quiter and smoother ride(which I like).... But I don't want to sacrifice TOO much on performance and looks.

Are the 16" wheels the same style as the 17" ones? Are the 17" wheels noticeable better looking, or is it a minor difference?

Thanks

There are pics and discussion about the same topic in that link. As you can see, the different size tires are not even close to being the same style, with the 16 inchers being horrendously ugly. Most ppl on the forum are going with the factory 17s and then buying a set of aftermarket 16" rims + snow tires if they live in a snowy region.

Performance wise, the 16"s would probably give you a little faster off the line acceleration but give you less top speed and handling.

IMO, the IS300's 17" rims are just too hot looking to pass up though....with those stock 16" rims, it REALLY looks like a Toyota.

Thanks....That pretty much made the decision for me to go with the 17"....the 16" are UGLY!!! why the hell would they not make the 16" wheels look like the 17's?

Is it possible to put some 17" all season tires on the stock 17" wheels?

I saw some all season tires that would fit the 17" Konig Reign 17X7 5-114.3 40S. Will it be too large for the IS?

For not much more than the price of 17" all-season or winter tires you can get nice 16" rims and winter tires (like the Konig Reign 16" with Michelin Pilot Alpin tires). Why not have the best of both worlds? Great summer performance and great winter traction and performance? Plus you don't have to have tires re-mounted during the year; just take the summer wheels off and mount the winter ones. That has the added benefit of protecting your great-looking 17" wheels from the evils of winter!
