A conductor between the coil and the spark plug? Does it go between the coil and the coil boot? It won't stay there...it falls out.

I'm doing a tune up on my 01 IS300. None of my coil packs have this spring.
Once I had the coil packs and wires removed, I cleaned the the valley between the cams really well before removing the spark plugs. I found a spring laying at the base of 2 of my spark from whoever did the last tune up.
I need to find out if the springs are necessary before reassembling and if so, where exactly do they need to be placed?

Thank you,
-Jason

They go inside the boot where you place the spark plugs. You can use some dielectric grease inside the boot then push the spring inside there. The grease should hold it in place just long enough to get them onto the spark plugs.

My car didn’t have them. If you look inside the boots, there should be a circle type metal “clip.” That is what is supposed to latch onto the tops of the spark plugs. Some COP don’t have these clips and therefore require the use of the little springs.
