clubfoot The valve spring recall shouldn't be an issue at "any" dealership,...it's just the extras they may want to entice you have done

axle Hi everyone new is350 owner thanks for all the good info on this site. My question is has anyone had the valve spring recall done at Don Valley lexus in Markham? If so has there been any issues? Just booked mine to be done.

Razal Yeah, I doubt they've changed. Maybe they were having an unsually good day! LOL

My expectations of EP Lexus are so low, really all the have to do is give me my car back in one piece and I'm satisfied they did a good job!!!

clubfoot To atv1953,...you should have gotten a recall letter in the mail with a coupon for either $500.00 US or $250.00 CN to use towards service, parts or accessories.

LOL,...Maybe EP has changed their ways since my encounter with them,....naw,...they can't and won't.

Razal LOL @ Clubfoot. Yes, I'm sure we will have a lot to talk about.

Okay... so I got the car back last night. Car feels fine. Not better, not worse, but SOOOOOO much better than the ES (sorry ES owners, not dissing your car, it's just not for me).

I paid for the gas I used in the car AND, they told me that there were 7 clips missing on the engine cover that needed to be replaced (which I broke).

They charged me $14 + tax for the clips ($1.99 each). I truly did break these clips when I was installing my JoeZ so I didn't argue with them about it, but I KNOW some of the guys in the USA routinely get these clips replaced for free. Not at Erin Park Lexus though!!!! LOL

Having said that, they were much better this time around, in terms of how I was treated.

atv1953 brought my 2006 IS350 in for the master cyl, spring valve and gas pedal recall last nov. 2010. they had my car for 3 days and gave me a 2010 nissan altima loaner fm enterprise since all the lexus loaners were gone. this was the thanksgiving week. i was ok with it cuz i really didnt have to use it much anyway. i just paid for the gas that i used. when i got my car back they filled up my tank and i think it feels better after all the work was done! love my car!

to clubfoot- does everybody get those $500 or $250 cards after their service recalls done?

5ohIS350 Sorry to hear about your problems. I just had my 2007 Is350 into my local dealer (40 miles away Willis Lexus, Des Moines Iowa) for valve recall. They picked the car up from my house and left me an ES350. Returned my car to my 2 days later with a full tank. I had just bought the car in another state and drove it back. When I called them for the recall I had not even got my plates for the car yet. I also had them replace the driver side low beam HID and the passenger side entire headlight assembly due to condensation. All replaced under warranty no questions asked. This is the second car I have taken to them in a months time for the recall. I had a 2006 that got totaled when a guy ran a red light and I hit him at 40 mph, 2 days after I got it back from the recall. They also drove to my house to pick up the 2006 and left me a 250h. Both times I had a full tank when they returned the car and both times they told me not to worry about filling up the loaner. I guess I am just giving my experience as further ammunition to berate them with.

clubfoot Hey Razal,....have I got a story for you about our beloved EP Lexus,..but NOT for the forum,..when we see each other during the warm weather meets, I'll bring my invoices

What never ceases to amaze me is the difference in service in Canada Vs. the US? I go to Northtown Lexus in Buffalo to purchase some wiper refills and touch up paint,...and they don't charge for touch up paint in the bottle with the brush!!! At EP Lexus it's like $11.00 for the stupid felt pen!!!

US '06 customers get $500.00, we get $250.00? Go figure

Razal So, my car just went in for the valve spring recall. That is the only work they are doing. The pedal recall is "optional" and opted not to have it done, since I use only OEM mats, properly secured.

Got an ES350 loaner. Nice, but too old man for my liking. Happened to have a pretty good ice storm last night, so driving has been interesting.

Their loaners are not really loaners the way I had them in NJ. Here, you have to provide them with your credit card and it is a "free" rental through Enterprise. They offer insurance coverage and I will be responsible for the gas. Hope they don't need my car for the three days they have suggested, if they are only doing the valve spring recall.

I was really surprised to find out they were even giving me a loaner. Because it is a US VIN vehicle, they typically won't give me a loaner, no matter how big the service. They typically offer me a "rental".

This particular dealership happens to be quite lousy. My father has had good luck at his dealership, but they are just too far for me (and they gave me the "Oh you have a US VIN - attitude".

2. Usually, the loaner is an IS250, non-AWD (see comments above).

3. I asked for an RX or the GX but he said they don't loan GX's and he could not promise an RX.

4. I park in a private lot with a reserved spot, so I'll have to let them know I've got a new car for "x" days so I won't be towed and I will have to let them know again when I've got mine back. This has to be done at the management office "in writing".

So, it is a bit of pain in the rear.

Which Lexus dealership Razal?
I guess we just got more hospitality here in the south. What can I say? This will be my third trip in for a recall and they always say to run the tank low when I call for an appointment.

Hey Clubfoot!!!

Did you really have to ask? LOL

It was our good old friends at Erin Park Lexus. Sent the service manager a nasty email and then I got a call back from "John", not sure if he was the very "helpful" chap that told me, "TSBs are not public knowledge and I shouldn't be talking about them".

Blue99Altezza 90% of the IS250s are AWD around here, I am sure their loaner is AWD.
