Hey I'm moving to Dallas and I'm worried about the emissions testing any tips?

LSX_4EVR Here is a link that should answer all or most your questions, including Military. Also if your going to be moving to the Dallas area, consider investings in a Tolltag. The tickets for running the toll booths and not paying can get costly.

I here FT Hood is strick on vehicles down there. As for your license I don't believe you will need to change it. You will however have to pass Tx state inspections to register the car in Texas. My brother has been station there the pass 4 years and he's had a couple issues about getting on base with his truck. They do vehicle inspections once a month I believe.

For your license just find the DMV closest to you and get your Tx drivers license there. Not really sure what the process is.
When it comes to getting your car to pass inspection, is it a smog inspection? or just a look over 'make sure the vin matches' kind of inspection?

I'm curious because I plan on moving to TX as well.

New resident to Dallas - car registration?

Hey everyone,

You've probably seen my other posts. Moving to Dallas soon....curious what I should know about registering my car in the state, getting a new license, etc.?

I'm coming from Missouri....we have to get a safety check, an emissions test, show current insurance card, show last two personal property tax receipts, and pay roughly $40 for a year's worth registration (option to register for 2 years at $76).

I forget what it cost and what the process was for drivers license.

Same kind of thing in Texas, just without the personal property tax?

So my registration expires in Oct. '09 in Missouri. Is that good you think 'till the end of the month? I'm likely moving early Oct., so I didn't want to register my car in MO for another year if I didn't have to.

Thanks!
